What We Believe: Mankind, Fall, Salvation, Resurrection

Good morning. We are so very glad you are here with us this morning.

Before we dive into what God has for us this morning I wanted to touch on a couple of quick announcements

Today is our monthly congregational meeting right after service. It is open to anyone who would like to attend

This coming Saturday is Men’s breakfast....cooking and fellowship starts at 7 am and eat at 8 am followed by a short devotion

We are in a season of transition here at CCC as we are finding out what our ITS are and part of transition and growth is sometimes taking a time of pause

We are going to pause Men’s Discipleship group on Monday nights for the time being…We still have our adult bible study on Wednesday nights at 7 pm

We are also going to pause Jr Sr High Bible study on Wednesday nights for a while as well

Our intention is God willing we start those back up sometime after the new year....be praying for God’s will and workers

We will also be doing our Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion Service on Tuesday 12/24 at 5 pm. Please make plans to attend

We are beginning to wrap up the IT: Salvation and Discipleship: What Turns Your Crank sermon series

We will reach the end of this series on 12/29 and the original plan was to have a pot luck that morning but since it is the last Sunday and we are approaching the new year we wanted to try something else

Instead of worship night and fellowship dinner being on Sunday 12/29 we are going to move that to New Year’s Eve 12/31

That evening starting at 6 pm we will worship together followed by our fellowship dinner/It Potluck

We were also going to have a pie auction for summer camp but we will do that during the January worship night on January 26

We will have a time of message and meditation and take communion together that evening as well

I doubt we make it to midnight that night but who knows!!!!!!!!!

This morning we continue on with our IT Salvation and Discipleship: What Turns Your Crank sermon series and we are discussing what we believe at CCC

This morning we talk about mankind....the fall…salvation....the resurrection

We are going to cover some ground this morning because Mankind, the fall, salvation and resurrection all go hand in hand

We are also going to have many scriptures this morning

We believe that scripture teaches scripture

we dont got to many scriptures for any other reason than to let scripture teach scripture

it is not designed to confuse

it is not designed to muddy

it is not designed to do anything other than present God’s Word…what He says and let the Holy Spirit lead you and guide you through scripture

Lets dive in

1. Mankind and the Fall

We believe God created all

Genesis 1:1

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”

John 1:1–3

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.”

The Word here is Jesus

John 1:14

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

Very clear creation was done by God and Jesus and Holy Spirit......

In fact all things were made by Jesus as we read in John 1:3.

That is why it blows my mind that today many are arguing and fighting for reproductive rights in women......dont let that fool you it has nothing to with reproductive rights and everything to do with murder....abortion

abortion is murder....pastor josh that is harsh no that is truth

abortion is destroying a human life as a reaction to the outcome of sinful behavior

Sex was created by God to be enjoyed inside of marriage

marriage was also created by God and through that union…two becoming one…children result

Children are a gift from God....James 1:17 tells us that ll good gifts come from God

Sex outside of marriage

doesnt matter if it is fornication....two unmarried people having sex

or

adultery a married person having sex with someone other than their spouse

all sex outside of marriage is a choice and a sin

period

end of story

I dont care if you are engage....pretending to be married.....committed....sex outside of and before marriage is sinful

satan has deceived the masses into sinning by creating this lie that as long as you are happy and both consent sex outside of marriage is okay

he has also deceived many into sinning by believing that killing the baby is okay

That baby did nothing to deserve death

the mother and father made a choice....a sinful choice and to try an correct that choice they murder their child

again some of you may be thinking pastor josh that is harsh....not when you know scripture that is the only conclusion to come to

Jeremiah 1:5

Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; And in thy book all my members were written, Which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: When I awake, I am still with thee.”

Pretty clear....God creates life

God forms life.....babies....humans....in their mothers womb....they are not fetuses they are babies created by God

We believe God created mankink

The first humans were created by God....Adam and Eve

We find this in

Genesis 1:26–27

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”

We are created in the image of GOd

God is a trinity

God the Father

God the Son

God the Holy Spirit

He created us in His image with a body....spirit…and soul

Adam and Eve were created perfectly without sin

as we read in Genesis they walked with God

they talked with God

they had a perfect relationship with God and each other

sinless

that is one of the major problems with sin....it destroys your relationship with God and others

In Genesis 3 we find the fall....where sin entered the world

satan in the form of a snake attacked pride

you and i must be so careful with pride.....

all pride does is kill steal and destroy so you must through the Holy Spirit and truth of scripture kill pride in you…destroy it

Pride is the root of most if not all sin

Genesis 3:4–5

“And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”

God is keeping you down

God doesnt want you to know all He knows

God wants to be more powerful than you

God is out to get you

that is what satan was selling and Eve bought it all

I must admit on Monday I bought it at school

I allowed my pride to dictate my attitude and actions and i sinned

i became angry

i became resentful

all because my pride was hurt

we see the result of the fall…consequences of sin

there are always consequences that follow or result from sin

In Genesis 3:14-24 we find the following consequences of Adam and Eves sin

now man and nature would be at odds instead of in unity

women would have painful childbirth

men would have a hard time working the ground to eat

death was also a result

the most painful however was getting kicked out of God’s presence

you see sin always has consequences

sins only goal is to steal

to kill

and to destroy

Pretty bleak picture so far

God’s creation

rebelled

sinned against Him

destroyed that perfect relationship and now had to face God’s wrath

Mankind was now doomed to hell because of their sin

God knew all of that prior to creation but loved us enough to create us anyway

He had a plan before the foundation of the world....Jesus

2. Salvation

We believe that the Son of God became the Son of man in the flesh

lived a sinless life which qualified Him to pay the complete payment for mankinds sin

Galatians 3:13–14

“Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”

1 Timothy 1:15

“This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.”

Romans 8:3–4

“For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”

Matthew 20:28

“Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.”

Jesus is the only way to salvation

Scripture is pretty clear

We believe that any other act

belief

thought

that is contrary to the completeness of the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross represents a different gospel and is heresy

Galatians 1:6–8

“I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.”

Pretty straight forward

Christ and Christ alone saves....anything else is heresy

We believe the only way to salvation and the only way to receive the Holy Spirit is through a

personal

submissive relationship with Jesus Christ

John 14:6

Colossians 1:19–20

“For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.”

Romans 5:1–2

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”

Again only Jesus but this points us to our last point this morning......the hope of the glory of GOd

3 Resurrection

Jesus blood covers your sins

brings you back into right relationship with God

but there is more

your hope and my hope is eternal life in heaven with God through Jesus

that is only possible through Jesus’ resurrection

Matthew 28:5–7

And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.”

God raised Jesus from the dead on the 3rd day

this mean eternal life

Jesus Himself tells us this

John 11:25–26

“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”

Revelation 1:17–18

“And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.”

Jesus is life

Jesus is eternal life

Jesus is resurrected this morning sitting on the right hand of God

The question is not if Jesus lives but do you know Jesus

Have you made Him your personal Lord and Savior this morning?

The ball is now in your court

You have heard the Word of God proclaimed

God through the Holy Spirit has spoken to you this morning

James 1:22 tells you to be a doer not a hearer only

It is time to do

It is time to move

It is time to respond to what God has called you to this morning

That is what this time is all about

As this song plays get with God....if He is calling you DO!
