Psalm 23:1

The New King James Version Psalm 23

1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

This is the season of ADVENT, the time of expectancy and giving. We celebrate this month the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. The Lord has impressed upon me to talk about WANT. As we get ready for this season of expectancy and giving. Many times we find ourselves feeling some kinda of way about what we WANT to receive and what we will GIVE.

Repeat that with me, what we WANT to receive and what we will GIVE.

There are 30 references to the word WANT in the Bible.

The HEBREW word is CHASER pn. KHAW SARE

Which means: Lack or Need

The GREEK word is HUSTERĒSIS pn hoos-ter’-ay-sis

Which need, lack, or falling short

Folks as we move closer to the end of this year and going into 2025 if we ever needed the LORD before we sure do need HIM now!!!

I’ve said this before that folks are still worrying about the effects of TRUMP being re-elected president. But GOD told me to remind you that HE is still GOD. Make no mistake about it. GOD is still in CONTROL.

You’ve had some hard days 2024, I’ve had some hard days in 2024 and GOD has always provided for us.

In fact, there is a secret to having your needs met. King David discussed it in Ps. 23 where he stated that THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD.

1st MAKE the LORD your Shepherd

It is the responsibility of the shepherd to care for the sheep. Whatever their need is the shepherd responds to the needs of the sheep.

When the sheep have put their trust in the shepherd they obey the shepherd’s voice. The shepherd provides the needs of the sheep. But we must obey the commands of the Shepherd.

If it’s your desire to be on top and to live on TOP listen and obey the voice of the shepherd. To do that you have to be willing to say “NOT MY WILL GOD BUT THY WILL BE DONE”.

Too many times FAME we have chosen the wrong SHEPHERD and have listened to the wrong voice. Then we wonder how did we here. Nobody’s supposed to be here! Because we’ve listened to the wrong voice. Jesus declared that the sheep know my voice and a stranger they will not follow. Make the Lord your Shepherd.

2nd Surrender Your Will to GOD

Proverbs 3:5-6 5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Stop trusting in your own strength and understanding and TRUST GOD.

Soon as the children of Israel really put their trust in GOD, they were able to just show up to the battle and watch GOD fight on their behalf. That’s what happens when you surrender your WILL to GOD. Psalm 34:10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not WANT any good thing.

When you have surrendered your will to GOD you shall not want for any good thing. The song writer said” Put your hand in the hand of the MAN that stilled the water. Put you hand in the MAN the calmed the sea.

One of the things that my son calls me is “I GOT A Way Williams” because it seems as though I know how to get to many places without the help of a map. But there are times that I have to rely on WAZE or Google Maps to get where I’m going. I have to surrender my will to that system to get to my destination in a reasonable amount of time. I’ve found that when I do lean to my own WILL, I get stuck and it takes far longer to get where I was going. I didn’t take in consideration that the APP can see things up the road that I couldn’t see and it plotted the right course for me. What am I trying to say is that we have to surrender to GOD because GOD can see down the road things that I can’t see.

3rd Protection is Included

After the Psalmist declared: 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Then the Psalmist talks about GOD’s protection. He says: 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

GOD’s protection is included, because all night and all day Angels are watching over me. If you don’t believe HIS Angels are watching over us Psalms 91:11 says: For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. 12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. You don’t have to be afraid of the terror by night, nor the arrow that flieth at noonday. Because you’re covered by the almighty GOD!!!!

I can walk in the midst of my enemies, walk in the midst of my haters, walk in the midst of those that scandalize my name. I can hold my head up high knowing that the LORD has got my BACK.

4th I SHALL NOT WANT

Philippians 4:19 “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

God supplies all of my needs. God makes sure that as our Shepherd all of our needs are met. In this season of EXPECTANCY AND GIVING, KNOW THAT GOD HAS YOUR BEST INTEREST AT HEART AND HE WANT THE BEST FOR YOU.

Over two thousand years ago. I was destined to die, needed away to home to my FATHER in GLORY. You do know this is NOT my home. I was destined to DIE, because that sacrifices that were made was not enough to GET ME HOME. So GOD provided once again for my needs. HE SENT ALL THE WAY THROUGH 42 GENERATION HIS ONLY SON TO BE BORN OF A VIRGIN MARY, WRAPPED IN SWADDLING CLOTHES. LAYING IN A MANGER. A FOOD TROTH FOR HORSES AND CATTLE BECAUSE THERE WAS NO ROOM IN THE INN. THE ANGEL GABRIEL HAD DECLARED THAT HE WOULD SAVE GOD’S PEOPLE FROM THEIR SINS.

SO JESUS HAPPY BIRTHDAY, THANK YOU SAVING US FROM OUR SINS. THANK YOU JESUS FOR BEING BORN…..SWEET LITTLE JESUS.
