Servant Obedience

v1 - God as faithful. There is no Certificate of Divorce. You left on your own accord. You are still mine, says God. I can bring you back whenever I want. I didn’t sell you as slaves to my creditors, because I have no creditors. So we enter into this study of the Messiah - Jesus who is to come in 700 years - with a strong reminder that God is absolutely faithful. When His people fall short, He won’t always bail them out in the moment, He will let the consequences of sin run their course.
Describe what God’s constant faithfulness means to you.
Why do you think God allows the consequences of sin to “run their course”?
v4 - Messiah as Skilled Counselor. God’s Servant, the Messiah, has a learned tongue or one with intimacy from being with God. He is a skilled counselor who is able to translate instruction from God into obedience.
v5 - Messiah as Attentive. Open my ears - means to make me obediently attentive.
v6-9 - Messiah as Resolute. He willingly endures sacrifice, and courageously stands with God against His accusers.
v10-11 - Messiah as Way Maker. If one is walking in the dark, he/she can trust in the splendor and radiance of the Messiah which lead to peace and light. Trust human devices for salvation and the spark / torch eventually goes out.
