a Perfect Family

Matthew 12:46-50
While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.
Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.
But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
My brothers and sisters, you know family has always been our back bone and our strength, knowing who we are and where we came from
And even through our family tree may hold our roots, it just seems that our immediate family truly knows who we are, and how we use to be. Amen.
Its our immediate family that knows all of our secrets
Its with the immediate family members, the mother, father, brother , sister, and occasionally that first cousin, and maybe that second cousin
that know all our personal business that you might really want to have your back in a crisis, or to just believe in you, that if they don’t can seem to upset you more anything
----------------------
People today when they come together in their family reunions never fail to let it be known
That from generation to generation, God had brought the family a mighty long way
And I don't know how you might think, but to me, it seems like that old generation knew the value on family stepping in when there was a crisis indicating that blood is thicker water, that family are to stick together
now we do still have some families that still have some family values that you can still see in the siblings because those value have been deeply rooted.
And it is that understanding of a family, that Jesus wanted people to be acquainted with
that Jesus took the opportunity to teach something that was very important
While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.
In order words, right in the middle of Jesus’s preaching he was interrupted by a person that gave notice that Jesus family were there
Verse 47 says; then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.
Now this type of interruption of the preacher don’t happen now, whether it be by a family member or anybody in the congregation,
yet the way Jesus reacted: he didn’t get unset, he didn’t get unfocused, he just went with the flow
Jesus replied, answering, who is my mother and my brethren
Now let us understand that Jesus was not downgrading his family or should I say, earthly family
For Jesus, himself did love and honored his physical family
And even though his earthy family, were there waiting to speak with him, and hearing his reply,
let us know that Jesus intended no insult to them.
However, their presence gave Jesus the opportunity to define an even more significant family
Which was a heavenly family, that the head of this new family that Jesus wanted to bring attention to is God, the heavenly Father. Amen.
And that our connection with this heavenly family is determined not by blood,
but by a relationship with the God the father through faith, Amen.
Jesus says, For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother. Amen.
And what I’m saying is that Jesus was declaring those whereby their faith showed evidence by obedience to God to live their lives according to God, to be his family, his relatives
You see Jesus was not talking about the type of family that was connected because of our physical blood line, or as doctors might say; your D.N.A
For even Jesus had brothers and sisters in his physical earthy family born after him. Amen.
But Jesus is talking about a family of faith believer
The same family that is to be blessed by way of Abraham
For it was the faith, not by blood that Abraham received the covenant that God promised the blessing to
Which Jesus now reiterate on, as Jesus emphasize those that are is mother, brother and sister
I’m talking about it’s a family affair
The more significant family related into Christ by spiritual ties,
and who are become one by the indwelling of his spirit,
Therefore, my brothers and sister, as followers and believers of Christ, even with our imperfection that we may have
Let us understand, our faith in God adopts us to be part of the new family affair
I can hear Paul telling us in Ephesians 1:5 saying; Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
And you better believe that the affairs of this family are to love one another, and pray for one another;
Because a family that prays together, stays together
And even thou our flaws may differ one from another we still have one thing in common,
and that is the connection we have with our Lord and savior Jesus
Our trials and tribulations may differ, but we have the same Jesus walking with us and bringing us through all our circumstances
For Jesus says that he would not leave us nor forsake us
We have the same connection with Jesus by the fact that we are buried with him by baptism into death
The word tells us, for if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection
I’m talking about a family affair
And I don’t know about you, but I’m so glad that God allow us to have a transition from the family in which we were put in because of Adam
For because of Adam, we all was born into the same physical family inherit of a sinful nature
David says in Psalm 51, behold I was sharpen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me
Yet, even thou we have been sharpen in iniquity, we have right now, opportunity to be mold, and made hold, refined and justified because of Jesus
And I say opportunity because we have a choice to believe or not to believe
We have a choice to be saved or not to be saved
And we want need to take a blood test or have any dispute like on that T.V show Merry
Saying at the nose merry, it looks just like the father
Look at the forehead merry, it looks like his daddy head
But all we need is to be cover under the blood of Jesus, for God to see his son all over you, or should I say, whosoever, believing
For the word tells us that God so love the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life
Therefore, my brothers and sisters, because of Jesus, we have a family reunion that is coming
And not like man’s reunion that comes once a year, but every day shall be a reunion being united with God
Jesus says, for whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
Let me say it like this: it’s a family affair doing God will
You see in this reunion, we going to seat down and have a fest
For Jesus says in Luke 22:16, I will not eat any more, thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God
I’m talking about brothers and sisters, Jew and gentiles in Christ gathering together in one place, not made by the hands of man
I’m so glad, Jesus came that we may be life up out of a family of sin because of Adam,
Into a family that has no sin, because of Jesus
I’m talking about a family, that has been predestinated
Into the family of God
All because of Jesus, who came down through an expected period; a time that was just right
I’m talking about form Abraham to David, which was 14 generation,
And from David until the carrying away into Babylon, which was 14 generation,
And from the carrying away into Babylon into Christ, which is 14 generation
I’m talking about Jesus, who when to an old rugged cross, beaten down, bussed and acute
He borne our griefs and carried out sorrow
He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his strips we are healed
And in my closing let me say Jesus died and rose that his family may also rise, that we may have life everlasting
God bless you,
