Intro: Question, Experience, Story
A couple of months ago, during our Anniversary Bible Conference we look at the ideas of Identity and Dominion from Genesis
We as a church are going through Luke’s account of the birth of Jesus
JOY State of delight and well being that results from knowing and serving God.
Joy is the fruit of a right relation with God. It is not something people can create by their own efforts.
JOY True biblical peace and joy cannot be taken away from the believer by men or circumstances, since it comes from God (Romans 14:17). But, of course, it comes by the Holy Spirit as the believer learns and does those things that the Spirit teaches in His Word (see Galatians 5:22).
Passage of Scripture: Luke 2:8-11
Life: “Text”
Summary/Point: You will never have Joy without Jesus!

The Text (vs.)
And in the same region- as Joseph, Mary, and Jesus…
there were shepherds- not the most reliable of individuals
out in the field
keeping watch over their flock
by night- tired, possibly taking shifts, sleeping
and an Angel of the Lord
appeared to them
and the glory of the Lord shone around them
and they were filled with great fear
B (vs.)
And the Angel said to them
fear not, for behold
I bring you good news of great joy
that will be for all the people
For unto you is born this day
in the city of David
a Saviour
Who is Christ the Lord
JOY…You cannot have joy without…
Jesus
Born this day
A Saviour
Anointed
Obedience to His Word
The shepherds go “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us”
We will never experience Joy if we are not obeying the Word of God and walking in light of what we know
Yielding to His Will
Luke 2:20 “And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.”
How you live out the rest of your life really matters. Jesus ranked #1 in their lives and they left different than they came.
Identity and dominion- Being a right representation of the invisible God, made in his likeness and image to proclaim to all of creation who the true king is and live for his glory and not my own
Application/Implications:
