Do we put Jesus away as well?
Rise and Fall of Joy around christmas time (building up, to dec. 26)
But what if we didn’t need to box up that kindness, grace, and peace?
What if we carried that sense of Christmas beyond… well, Christmas?
What if that same hope walks with you into a test in March?
What if that same joyfulness goes with you as you walk the hallways of your school this May?
What if that same peace hits your heart as you walk back to the team dugout after you’ve struck out this
July?
What if that same grace continues with you so your guardian doesn’t push your buttons when they ask
you to clean you
God intended that the arrival of the Kid changes everything, especially you.
Prophecies pointed to a mighty king, not a baby born in nowheresville
Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
“Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked.
“Come and see,” said Philip.
People thought the Messiah would be a military leader or a popular politician, but Jesus was neither of
those things. At 30 years old, He began teaching and showing people who God is and what God is like.
Over the next three years, the Kid from Nazareth turned water to wine to save newlyweds from
embarrassment, healed the sick because God loves wholeness, raised the dead because God is the
Author of life, calmed storms because God reigns over the weather, forgave sins because He is God,
gave up His own life to break the curse of sin, rose from the dead to break the curse of death, and sent
His Spirit to live within His followers so they could be close to God and live in a way that reflects His
goodness.
Jesus was the Messiah that God had been promising was coming.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
So, why should we not box Jesus up with all the other Christmas stuff and only bring Him back out once a
year? Why should we give Jesus our attention even after Christmas is done? Why should we continue to
learn about and worship the Kid every day of the year?
Because the Kid changes everything, especially you.
Jesus offers you a better life than you could ever dream of. Jesus wants to help you live a better life than
you imagined you’d ever live. Jesus changes everything, and He wants to change your life for the better,
too.
