1. The Glory and Holiness of God

Genesis 1:1 LSB
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
God is the Creator of all thing, Infinitely holy, and perfect in His being.
Isaiah 6:3 LSB
3 And one called out to another and said, “Holy, Holy, Holy, is Yahweh of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory.”
God's holiness and glory demand absolute perfection, which no sinful being can approach.
Deuteronomy 32:4 LSB
4 “The Rock! His work is perfect, For all His ways are just; A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and upright is He.
God is not just holy as an attribute but He is the very definition of Holiness which is why He is described as holy, holy, holy.
Consider a cleanroom. A cleanroom which purpose is that of absolute purity. A cleanroom is meticulously designed to eliminate contaminants because even a single impurity can compromise the entire operation or product. It is typically used in industries such as electronics, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, aerospace, and medical device manufacturing. And a single particle of something foreign would be extremely problematic.
Similarly, God’s holiness is absolute, meaning He is utterly pure, without blemish or fault. Just as no impurity can exist in a cleanroom without jeopardizing its purpose, no sin or imperfection can stand in the presence of a holy God.

2. The Problem: Humanity’s Sin and Rebellion.

Romans 3:23 LSB
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
All humanity has rebelled against God's holiness and glory, inherited through Adam's fall.
Isaiah 59:2 LSB
2 But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.
Also, as a result of humanities sin, we are not only separate from God but we are to incur the wrath of God as just payment for our transgressions
Romans 6:23 LSB
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

3. The Solution: God’s Sovereign Grace in Christ

But because is not only Holy and only just but He is also love and mercy was not satisfied with only justice which is usually impossible to combine with mercy. God cannot diminish parts of Himself in order to fulfil other parts. He is as much mercy as He is Just.
Ephesians 2:4–5 LSB
4 But God, being rich in mercy because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—
So even though we are dead in our sin. Dead meaning powerless to even know that something is wrong, forget trying to save ourselves. He, in his love not only initiated the process of salvation but did all that we were incapable of doing.
Romans 5:8 LSB
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
God sent his son in human form to bear the penalty for sin as our substitute so that His holy justice would be satisfied, and His grace and mercy towards His creatures would also be satisfied.
Romans 4:25 LSB
25 He who was delivered over on account of our transgressions, and was raised on account of our justification.
Christ’s resurrection confirms the sufficiency of His atoning work and His victory over sin and death.
There is nothing that you or I can contribute in order to gain this forgiveness or salvation. It is entirely the work of God.
2 Corinthians 5:21 LSB
21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

4. The Call: Repentance and Faith

Just because all of this is the work of God alone does not mean that there is no response from us. There is a required response from us which is the evidence that indeed you have been saved by God.
Acts 3:19 LSB
19 “Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;
Acts 16:31 LSB
31 And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your house.”
If you are compelled from all that you have heard and experience to repent and have faith in God, these in themselves are a give from God for you cannot come to Him unless He first draws you in. Do not be stubborn like the Pharisees in Jesus’s time. Do not die in your sin when the Lord has provided a sure way out.

5. The Assurance: Eternal Life in Christ

Romans 8:1 LSB
1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
In Christ all those who believe are freed from the penalty of sin. And although you will exit this life through the casket, you will enter a new life a billion times better than anything you could ever imagine
2 Corinthians 5:8 LSB
8 we are of good courage and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord.
John 10:28 LSB
28 and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish—ever; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.
And your eternal security will rest in God’s faithfulness, not in your performance. I know many who have not trusted in God because they cannot trusts themselves.
But if you could have been trusted with your own soul, Christ would not have had to die. If today he has called you, He will perfect your character for he does not begin that which He does not intend to finish
Philippians 1:6 LSB
6 For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
So, if today you hear His voice, please do not harden your heart.
2 Corinthians 6:2 LSB
2 for He says, “At the acceptable time I listened to you, And on the day of salvation I helped you.” Behold, now is “the acceptable time,” behold, now is “the day of salvation”—
