Introduction:
We are considering this season that Jesus came as a King
As a Priest King he brought to the world — Hope, Peace, Joy
Today that he brought love into the world — Explain
John 3:16 NASB 2020
16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.
1 John 4:11 NASB 2020
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

Off to Bethlehem

This was not the idyllic, perfect, peaceful quite, night we think of when we think of the Nativity scene.
I am sure this did not go as planned — Family, Friends,Luke 2:1-5
Luke 2:1–5 NASB 2020
1 Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth. 2 This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 And all the people were on their way to register for the census, each to his own city. 4 Now Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, 5 in order to register along with Mary, who was betrothed to him, and was pregnant.
What does this mean for Mary?
I wonder if Mary made plans for Jesus birth
When they got there no one had a spare room — “no room” (No guest room)

Marry gave birth

Mary did not have the comforts and care of childbirth woman have today — She had Joseph! — develop
Out in the open air, behind house or in a side alley, she gave birth to a king! — Stone manger, pieces of cloth, not quiet
I was 19 working for VCM — Labor and Delivery explain
Just think what she went through giving birth, this was a normal birth. —Philippians 2:7
Philippians 2:7 NASB 2020
7 but emptied Himself by taking the form of a bond-servant and being born in the likeness of men.
He came into the world like we all do.
Conclusion:
What comes to your mind when you think of the nativity?
Advent reminds us that God does not do things the way we would.
Isaiah 55:8 NASB 2020
8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.
In one sense a birth like any other, in another sense a birth unlike any other!
For unto us king is born!
