damsel in destress

Acts 16:16–24 TPT
16 One day, as we were going to the house of prayer, we encountered a young slave girl who had an evil spirit of divination, the spirit of Python. She had earned great profits for her owners by being a fortune-teller. 17 She kept following us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Great High God, and they’re telling us how to be saved!” 18 Day after day she continued to do this, until Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit indwelling her, “I command you in the name of Jesus, the Anointed One, to come out of her, now!” At that very moment, the spirit came out of her! 19 When her owners realized that their potential of making profit had vanished, they forcefully seized Paul and Silas and dragged them off to the city square to face the authorities. 20 When they appeared before the Roman soldiers and magistrates, the slave owners leveled accusations against them, saying, “These Jews are troublemakers. They’re throwing our city into confusion. 21 They’re pushing their Jewish religion down our throats. It’s wrong and unlawful for them to promote these Jewish ways, for we are Romans living in a Roman colony.” 22 A great crowd gathered, and all the people joined in to come against them. The Roman officials ordered that Paul and Silas be stripped of their garments and beaten with rods on their bare backs. 23 After they were severely beaten, they were thrown into prison and the jailer was commanded to guard them securely. 24 So the jailer placed them in the innermost cell of the prison and had their feet bound and chained.

Deliverance from Distress

Bible Passage: Acts 16:16–18

1.Divine Encounters Acts 16:1

Paul and Silas were going about their faithful service when they encountered the slave girl, illustrating that moments of deliverance often start in the uneventful moments of doing ministry.
This encounter suggests that God works through our daily lives to bring about His purposes, and Christians can trust that their everyday actions may lead to opportunities for His grace to break through in significant ways.
I. She was a slave: Not to her masters but to a demon.
II. -Divination
is the practice of attempting to acquire special knowledge about the future or other naturally unknowable information through mystical or spiritual means.
This can involve interpreting various phenomena such as dreams, heavenly bodies, animal intestines, or the casting of lots[1].
The practice of divination is condemned in religious texts such as Deuteronomy 18:14[1]. Some specific Hebrew and Greek terms associated with divination include
(augury), (to divine magic), (divination), (inspiration in soothsaying)
III. PYTHON SPIRIT
The term "python spirit" has roots in ancient Greek mythology and religious practices. It is associated with a serpent or dragon called Python, which was said to guard the oracle at Delphi before being slain by the god Apollo.
The name Python later became connected to divination and soothsaying, with individuals believed to be inspired by the Pythian Apollo.
VI. Vantriloquist:
The art of projecting one's voice so that it appears to come from another source.
This Young Slave Girl was intrenched in Divination that had characteristics of serpent & vantriloquist
Have you ever had a conversation with someone, and it was the persons voice but it wasn’t there words?

2. Divine Awareness Acts 16:17

The persistent cries of the slave girl represent the cries of those bound by spiritual and emotional oppression today.
Deuteronomy 18:10 NIV84
10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft,
Her recognition of Paul and Silas as 'servants of the Most High God' underscores the power and authority of God's messengers, foreshadowing the transformative work of Christ.
It beckons believers to be alert and ready to identify and address the hidden cries of distress in their midst.
I. She Followed these men around every day.
When they came out the hotel room, She was there
When they Walked out of Starbucks: Bamm She was there
when they Opened the curtain in hotel room in the morning, yep she was there
Coming out of revival, slave girl was there.
Acts 16:17 TNIV
17 She followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved.”
It wasn’t what she said it was what she was doing while she said it! consider a python, did you ever see the movie 300 with the virgin oracle.

3. Deliverance Commanded, Chains Broken

Acts 16:18 KJV
18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.
This point might emphasize the moment of deliverance, where Paul, through the authority of Jesus Christ, commands the spirit to leave the girl.
The immediate freeing of the girl serves as a powerful testimony to God's grace, which breaks the chains of bondage.
This should encourage believers to trust in the mighty name of Jesus for deliverance from any form of oppression and to be channels of His freeing power.
Today We Command In The name of Jesus, what ever thats in you that is not of The Lord Jesus Come Out NOW.. In Jesus name
