Luke 1:39–45 NKJV
39 Now Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, to a city of Judah, 40 and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth. 41 And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42 Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! 43 But why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 For indeed, as soon as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. 45 Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.”

1. Elder-ship is paternal.

Titus 2:3–4 NKJV
3 the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things—4 that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,
1 Timothy 4:14 NKJV
14 Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership.
1 Corinthians 4:17 NKJV
17 For this reason I have sent Timothy to you, who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord, who will remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church.
an elder will have the heart of God.
an elder knows that the process of maturing. An elder, like a parent knows what is coming. an elder who is taking responsibility for a maturing christian, an elder understands what is coming and what a person will need.
2 Timothy 2:2 NKJV
2 And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

2. The confirmation of the will of God.

Deuteronomy 18:21–22 NKJV
21 And if you say in your heart, ‘How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?’—22 when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.

1 This will be the third time I am coming to you. “By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established.”
God has a will of everyone.
everyone has purpose.
everyone in the church needs discipleship.
God has a process and a purpose for everyone.
everyone's purpose is important.

3. Just as the Lord brought forth Jesus, the Lord will do what He wants to do in your life.

Philippians 1:6 NKJV
6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;
Philippians 2:13 NKJV
13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
