TWO FACTS:
God promises certain things to His followers.
God cannot break His Promises.
SO
If God promises:
To provide what you need.
To provide a way out of temptation.
That He will cause everything to work everything out for our good.
An eternal home in His presence.
AND
God cannot break His Promises.
THOSE THINGS ARE AS SURE AS THE RISING SUN.
How do those promises affect your daily lives?
Water Proof Phones:
Promises provide freedom:
36 “So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.
What you can do vs. what you should do.
9 But, beloved, we are convinced of better things concerning you, and things that accompany salvation, though we are speaking in this way.
10 For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, in having ministered and in still ministering to the saints.
11 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end,
12 so that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Previous Message:
What is might look like if one could abandon the faith they have in Christ.
No person could return them to repentance; Only God could cause that: WAYWARD FRIENDS/FAMILY
BELOVED
BELOVED
But beloved, we are convinced of better things concerning you.
This is the only use of this word in Hebrews:
Paul used it a lot: , Peter used it in 1/2 Peter, Jude used the term. John used it is 1st John. James used it.
The voice of Heaven: This is my beloved son, with whom I am well pleased.
You will be rewarded for your work.
You will be rewarded for your work.
Love toward His name in having ministered to the saints.
If you are kind to my children, you are kind to me.
17 One who is gracious to a poor man lends to the Lord,
And He will repay him for his good deed.
42 “And whoever in the name of a disciple gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water to drink, truly I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.”
40 “The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’
4 And fixing his gaze on him and being much alarmed, he said, “What is it, Lord?” And he said to him, “Your prayers and alms have ascended as a memorial before God.
But there can be a disconnect with what we do vs. what we feel.
Some of the most Godly people you know walk around in their head thinking, I’m not good enough. I have doubts about my salvation.
THE PROBLEM.
11 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end,
You are a child of the Living God: Act like it.
Donald Trump’s kids aren’t begging in the streets: WHY?
Because their dad is a wealthy and powerful man:
Your DAD created their dad and everything else in existence.
13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
14 This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
This kind of confidence produces in us a lack of fear and increased sense of freedom from the troubles of this world.
So what do we do with this confidence?
Be imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Be imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Abraham:
We are called to be imitators:
If you want to be better at anything; the very best thing to do is to find someone what it good at that thing and imitate them in that regard.
You want better control of your finances, find someone that is good at them now and imitate what they did.
Recipe: You followed the example someone else set.
We are called to be imitators of Christ:
15 “For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you.
Paul urged converts to imitate him.
16 Therefore I exhort you, be imitators of me.
Here we are called to imitate Abraham in regard to his faith and patiences in the Lord.
1 Now the Lord said to Abram,
“Go forth from your country,
And from your relatives
And from your father’s house,
To the land which I will show you;
2 And I will make you a great nation,
And I will bless you,
And make your name great;
And so you shall be a blessing;
3 And I will bless those who bless you,
And the one who curses you I will curse.
And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”
At 75 years old he went.
He was afraid, so twice he pretended that his wife was his sister.
He had a kid by his servant.
We will never have a perfect faith, but have faith in He who is perfect.
God was faithful to Abraham:
17 In the same way God, desiring even more to show to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of His purpose, interposed with an oath,
18 so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us.
Vs. 19
19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil,
20 where Jesus has entered as a forerunner for us, having become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.
