A Life Led by Holy Spirit
A Life Led by Holy Spirit
We have talked about a life in Faith and a life with the Holy Spirit. Today we are going to talk about a LIFE led BY the Spirit. So many times we claim to have Him, but the true question becomes,” am I living a life that is totally led by Him?”
The White House has a room in it called the Situation Room, it’s the very place where the order for Osama Bin Laden, Momar Khadafi, and Sadam Hussein was killed. To most of the world it these events were sudden, but it wasn’t because they personnel getting intel on the whereabouts and logistics of where they were at all times once they marked them. This place I call the Control Room. It is the room in which critical decisions are made that will impact us globally. So whoever that is in this room is being trusted with the fate of our country in that moment. Today we lose our control to give control to the One that never makes a mistake with all of creations decisions when prompted, Holy Spirit.
What does the Bible say about a life that is led by Holy Spirit?
What does the Bible say about a life that is led by Holy Spirit?
Mark 1:8 (MSG)
I’m baptizing you here in the river, turning your old life in for a kingdom life. His baptism—a holy baptism by the Holy Spirit—will change you from the inside out.”
The greatest and most significant changes take place from the inside. Getting baptized is an outward expression of a desired inward work. Why did I mention it is a desire? Simple. Until we have a true awareness of what we have to give up daily for Him to have all of us it is just that. He is there, but He is confined to only a small capacity of function through our understanding. What do I always say about the importance of understanding? Prov 4:7-9 it places emphasis on our NEED for EXPERIENCE.
Why is experience important to have with our relationship with Holy Spirit?
Why is experience important to have with our relationship with Holy Spirit?
It is simple HolySpirit in all of His magnificence desires to show us just how vast His abilities are and just how much access we have to them.
Think about this if I give you a million dollars and then turn around and say,” I sure would like to have a million dollars right now…” how do you think I would look at you after giving it to you? This is what we look like whenever we don’t consult Holy Spirit about what it is we already possess that He desires to show us that we have access to.
Now let’s look at these bad habits, mindsets, and lifestyles we have that we really can be done with them at the drop of a hat. you know we don’t let them go? Because we won’t allow Holy Spirit to do His job?
You ever notice you make a statement of ,” I really would like to lose weight.” The moment you do it seems like the more you eat the less satisfying the food becomes to you? DING DING DING that is the Holy Spirit sending us help. No we don’t need to go on a fast, like some of us say,” oh the Lord must want me to go on a fast. No. Holy Spirit is trying to help us make good on our own request and desire for the improvement of our health. 3 John 2
2 Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.
Now do you see that? There are times we are not even giving Holy Spirit His just due as something as simple as you thinking something to yourself (which spoiler alert He is right there with you to confer if you acknowledge Him being there) or even if it is with somebody in conversation. Holy Spirit is our Lead Support and Ultimate Success Coach. I know yall love to listen to your favorite motivational speaker and think,” yeah that’s right, I am going to go and do that right now…. Holy Spirit is sitting there like you know you don’t need this right. You know that we already have plans for you to prosper you and bring you to an expected in?
I want us to become more aware of what we say and do and watch how our outcomes begin to shape our world all because of the captain at the helm, Holy Spirit. We really don’t give Holy Spirit enough credit.
“I want to study the Word more.” He will begin to make any kind of time filler interaction become more and more dull and less fulfilling. You said you wanted to grow in the Word. He will curve our appetites and opportunities will increase to engage the scriptures. Some people interaction will become annoying to you, this is just real. Holy Spirit legit is there for us on all fronts, especially when it is in support you becoming more and more like Christ.
Why does it seem like He isn’t there sometimes?
Why does it seem like He isn’t there sometimes?
It is not His fault it is our inability to study the Word of what He desires to do FOR US AND IN US. Yes the work is already done, but we fail at trying to live out the way He desires to lead us because we have this physical feeling called flesh that is COMPLETE enmity with Holy Spirit. The Bible declares in Romans 7:21-25
Romans 7:21–25 (MSG)
It happens so regularly that it’s predictable. The moment I decide to do good, sin is there to trip me up. I truly delight in God’s commands, but it’s pretty obvious that not all of me joins in that delight. Parts of me covertly rebel, and just when I least expect it, they take charge.
I’ve tried everything and nothing helps. I’m at the end of my rope. Is there no one who can do anything for me? Isn’t that the real question?
The answer, thank God, is that Jesus Christ can and does. He acted to set things right in this life of contradictions where I want to serve God with all my heart and mind, but am pulled by the influence of sin to do something totally different.
And then it continues in and opens chapter Romans 8:1-17
Romans 8:1–17 (MSG)
With the arrival of Jesus, the Messiah, that fateful dilemma is resolved. Those who enter into Christ’s being-here-for-us no longer have to live under a continuous, low-lying black cloud. A new power is in operation. The Spirit of life in Christ, like a strong wind, has magnificently cleared the air, freeing you from a fated lifetime of brutal tyranny at the hands of sin and death.
God went for the jugular when he sent his own Son. He didn’t deal with the problem as something remote and unimportant. In his Son, Jesus, he personally took on the human condition, entered the disordered mess of struggling humanity in order to set it right once and for all. The law code, weakened as it always was by fractured human nature, could never have done that.
The law always ended up being used as a Band-Aid on sin instead of a deep healing of it. And now what the law code asked for but we couldn’t deliver is accomplished as we, instead of redoubling our own efforts, simply embrace what the Spirit is doing in us.
Those who think they can do it on their own end up obsessed with measuring their own moral muscle but never get around to exercising it in real life. Those who trust God’s action in them find that God’s Spirit is in them—living and breathing God! Obsession with self in these matters is a dead end; attention to God leads us out into the open, into a spacious, free life. Focusing on the self is the opposite of focusing on God. Anyone completely absorbed in self ignores God, ends up thinking more about self than God. That person ignores who God is and what he is doing. And God isn’t pleased at being ignored.
But if God himself has taken up residence in your life, you can hardly be thinking more of yourself than of him. Anyone, of course, who has not welcomed this invisible but clearly present God, the Spirit of Christ, won’t know what we’re talking about. But for you who welcome him, in whom he dwells—even though you still experience all the limitations of sin—you yourself experience life on God’s terms. It stands to reason, doesn’t it, that if the alive-and-present God who raised Jesus from the dead moves into your life, he’ll do the same thing in you that he did in Jesus, bringing you alive to himself? When God lives and breathes in you (and he does, as surely as he did in Jesus), you are delivered from that dead life. With his Spirit living in you, your body will be as alive as Christ’s!
So don’t you see that we don’t owe this old do-it-yourself life one red cent. There’s nothing in it for us, nothing at all. The best thing to do is give it a decent burial and get on with your new life. God’s Spirit beckons. There are things to do and places to go!
This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It’s adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike “What’s next, Papa?” God’s Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are. We know who he is, and we know who we are: Father and children. And we know we are going to get what’s coming to us—an unbelievable inheritance! We go through exactly what Christ goes through. If we go through the hard times with him, then we’re certainly going to go through the good times with him!
So then if in fact Holy Spirit is like a strong wind desiring blow everything out of our lives like a strong wind, why are we nailing down things that try make us comfortable with the changes that us needed? Remember a life led by Holy Spirit becomes less about what was. It now becomes the beauty of what is and shall be. Holy Spirit LEAD THE WAY!!! (CLOSE)
Becoming in the Midst of Uncertainty
Becoming in the Midst of Uncertainty
Holy Spirit doesn’t need you trying to figure out anything, He just needs us to stand still and know he too IS GOD. Note this next scripture speaks of Holy Spirit entering us, but with FIRE! I spoke briefly about water baptism, but this next baptism is the ONE OF THE ONE!
Matthew 3:11–12 (MSG)
“I’m baptizing you here in the river, turning your old life in for a kingdom life. The real action comes next: The main character in this drama—compared to him I’m a mere stagehand—will ignite the kingdom life within you, a fire within you, the Holy Spirit within you, changing you from the inside out. He’s going to clean house—make a clean sweep of your lives. He’ll place everything true in its proper place before God; everything false he’ll put out with the trash to be burned.”
What John had done was insignificant to what he had done compared to Holy Spirit and fullness of His Power. Which that in and of itself tells you that works will never amass the yield of a life led by Holy Spirit. You can go down in the water all day long, but the Spirit of God who can make INTERCESSION FOR US GREATER THAN A DUNK IN WATER. He can make us DRUNK IN IT, HIS!
So why get dunked when you can get drunk? I’m a firm believer of baptism, but not if I have a choice of becoming the capacitor of God’s glory through purge and filling! I’m looking for a day when people are filled because we are so yielded that strangers become filled with His Spirit!!!!
Give me THE DRINK!!!!! I came to get DRUNK….. the problems we have in church is that we are too busy looking to get a TOUCH VERSUS A FILLING!!!
Touch me Lord….. NO FILL ME, because when you fill me whatever is in me has to come out!!!!! The filling will force us to lose control, a life without control in the presence of God is one that has become overtaken by God. Him having control is the best thing that will ever happen for us!
