Hope Shines Bright

Light breaks through the darkness-

John 1:4–5 NLT

The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.

Darkness is the Bible represents a spiritual condition that is seen in the physical world-

Isaiah 9:1 NLT

Nevertheless, that time of darkness and despair will not go on forever. The land of Zebulun and Naphtali will be humbled, but there will be a time in the future when Galilee of the Gentiles, which lies along the road that runs between the Jordan and the sea, will be filled with glory.

Darkness here is spiritual despair and death

it is the lack of hope

A conditions of the heart and mind that is there because of sin and Satan-

it is a place of oppression

it is a place of burden

Light- Is the spiritual condition of life

light brings joy, and peace

it is a condition of the Spirit that is evident in the outward expression of ones life

People either live in one or the other-

You are in Darkness or you are in light

The Promise of Jesus in Isa 9 is a promise of God to take away the darkness and bring people into light!

Isaiah 9:2–3 NLT

The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine. You will enlarge the nation of Israel, and its people will rejoice. They will rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest and like warriors dividing the plunder.

Why did Jesus Come?

Luke 4:18–19 NLT

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.”

Jesus came to save all men!

Jesus came for Good-news for those who are poor

Spiritual darkness

Jesus came to set captives free

Jesus came to remove oppression from your life

Jesus came so that you see spiritually

He came fro your physical healing

“His body was broken for our healing”

Jesus came to bind broken hearts-

Isaiah 61:1 ESV

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

Jesus came for your emotional healing

Complete healing-

Matthew 11:28–30 ESV

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Jesus came to remove the burden-

This is the shattering of the Rod of the Oppressor

Acts 26:18 NLT

to open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God’s people, who are set apart by faith in me.’

Jesus came so that you could have forgiveness

Jesus came take people from darkness to light

Jesus came to deliver people from the power of Satan

Jesus came so that you could have a place or an inheritance among god’s people!

Acts 3:26 NLT

When God raised up his servant, Jesus, he sent him first to you people of Israel, to bless you by turning each of you back from your sinful ways.”

Jesus Came so that You can be blessed!

Jesus came for your greatest breakthrough

to break you out of the kingdom of darkness

Colossians 1:13–14 ESV

He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

How did Jesus set us free?

Colossians 2:13–15 ESV

And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.

this is what Jesus came for

This is the message of Good-news of Great Joy, that will be for all people!

Christ the Savior is born

And those who has walked in darkness no longer have to

and those who lived in darkness not longer have to

1 John 3:8 NLT

But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil.

Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil!

Jesus shatters His rod of oppression off of your life

Why all come to the light?

And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.
