John 1:1-8; The Light of Men

Introduction

Richard told me this story a time or two. He was telling me about this conversation he had with a gentleman that had struggled with alcoholism in his younger years. Richard said this gentlemen said that driving past the liquor store would just make his eyes light up. It took a lot for this gentleman to not stop at that liquor store on his way home.
It may not be liquor, but most of us has something that lights up our eyes. It could be good things that do that for us. Friends. Family. Serving others.
Our, there are some people that feel like there is nothing that lights up your eyes anymore. Whatever your position is, I want to give you something that will not only light up your eyes. I want to give you something that can also shine through you.

Sermon in a sentence: Let the light shine.

Jesus came from eternity

All other religious leaders are mortal messengers. Jesus is God.
Jesus created all things.

Jesus came for salvation

The incarnation was purposeful.
God decreed to use people like John the Baptist to proclaim the salvation in Jesus.
