——————————
These twelve Jesus sent out, instructing them, “Go nowhere among the Gentiles and enter no town of the Samaritans,
(not the same place, but for us he instructs us to go to great need, go to the sick, go to the dying, go to the despised, go to the dangerous.)
“If you want a safe, carefree life, stay away from Jesus”
Because if we are supposed to be like Christ, we can look at His life and see how the world treated Him. How did they treat Him? They crucified Him.
The world around us right now is fine with Christians as long as we keep to ourselves, live life like everyone else sit around comfortably and keep our faith to ourselves. And we can do that! We can live an entire life calling ourselves Christians and face no real struggle, no real risk in this world… but in return we will not know Christ ourselves.
The one who calls you to the wolves is good.
The completion of the Great Commission will include great sufferings.
If dependence is the goal — weakness is the advantage
If I am celebrating my amazing wife Rachel for her birthday or our anniversary or something Here is something I would not do, okay? — I would not go out of my way to cook her a nice beautiful stir fry because she hates vegetables! I don’t know why anyone would do that to celebrate in their right mind, but you get the point.
And I bet Rachel would feel even worse about it than just not liking it because she knows that I know she hates vegetables.
If I love Rachel, why would I bring something to her that she hates?
If we love Jesus, Why would we be okay with the things He hates.
This guy comes to Jesus wanting these things and Jesus says I dont even have a roof over my head. If you come to me, im all you got.
Do we want comfort or a cross?
