Introduction -
Everyone’s life has some of the same basic facts that are always true.
it doesn't matter if you are a Christian or not for some of these facts to always be 100% true.
We are going to talk about one of those facts today that is true for every person that has ever lived.
That fact is transformation.
Every single person that has ever lived has transformed over time.
there has never been a person who has never changed (transformed) in some way.
From the day that we are born, to the day that we die, we are being transformed.
There are none of us that look exactly like we did the day that we were born. - because we are constantly transforming.
Transformation for the person doesn’t happen only in a physical sense, but also in a spiritual sense if we allow it to.
Tonight, we are going to look at Jesus’ first miracle he ever performed. The transformation of water into wine.
It is my prayer that each and every one of us here has been transformed by the saving power of Jesus. However; if someone is here that has not, it is my prayer that you will surrender to Jesus and allow yourself to be transformed by HIS power.

READ John 2:1–4
1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: 2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. 3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. 4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.
We see that Jesus, His mother and the disciples are all at a wedding.
A wedding during this time period was a little different than a wedding that we know today.
Maybe you could begin by highlighting the apparent problem at the wedding: the wine has run out. This sets the stage for Jesus to reveal his transformative power. Mary's involvement illustrates trust and faith in Jesus' ability to change circumstances, encouraging believers to turn to Christ when faced with scarcity or difficulty. Christ's response is a powerful reminder of divine timing, suggesting that God's solutions are perfectly timed, even when they seem delayed to us.

2. Obedience Before the Overflow
John 2:5-8
Perhaps you can focus on the servants' obedience to Jesus' instructions, filling the jars with water. This act of faith precedes the miracle and highlights our role in God's transformative work. Jesus uses the ordinary, symbolized by the water jars, to accomplish the extraordinary. This teaches us the importance of obedience and faith as prerequisites for experiencing Christ's transformative power in our lives.
3. Transformation of the Ordinary
3. Transformation of the Ordinary
John 2:9-12
You could emphasize the moment of transformation when the water becomes wine and is recognized by the master of the banquet as the best wine. This miraculous act reveals Jesus' nature and mission: to transform and bring about a superior joy and fulfillment. It points to the ultimate transformation he offers through salvation. This sermon point can inspire believers to see how Jesus' presence in their lives brings a profound and joyous change, turning emptiness into abundance.
Trust/faith illustration
There’s a popular story of a circus performer walking a tightrope. One day, he asks the crowd, 'Do you believe I can walk across this rope with a wheelbarrow?' Everyone cheers, confident in his skills. He then asks, 'Who will get in the wheelbarrow?' Silence. Trusting goes beyond belief; it requires action, much like our faith in God. Are we willing to get into the wheelbarrow and trust Him fully?.
Consider a child jumping off a diving board into a pool. They hesitate, looking down, then they jump! Why? They trust the water will catch them, and they know their parents are cheering them on. Our trust in God is similar; at times, we must leap, trusting He’s there to catch us, and often, it’s in that leap we find joy and adventure. It's light-hearted and delightful to trust in the One who loves us unconditionally.
