I WANT TO TALK TO YOU THIS MORNING FOR A FEW MINUTES ABOUT...
THE LOVE OF JESUS CHRIST
AGAPE MEANS.....
SELFLESS LOVE
SACRIFICIAL LOVE
IT IS NOT AN EMOTION...
IT’S NOT AN ATTRACTION
IT’S NOT A WOOING
IT’S NOT A RECOGNITION OF BEAUTY
IT’S A DECISION WE MAKE IN OBEDIENCE TO THE LORD
IT’S NOT EASY
I THINK YOU WOULD AGREE THAT...
IT IS INCREDIBLY HARD TO BE KIND TO PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT KIND TO YOU
I’M REMINDED OF THE SCRIPTURE
6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
LOVE IS A VERB
IT REQUIRES ACTION
YOU CAN ASK MY WIFE....I AM VERY GOOD AT SAYING AND TELLING HER THAT I LOVE HER
BUT I STRUGGLE TO SHOW IT SOMETIMES
BUT LOVE REQUIRES ACTION
JOHN 3:16 SAYS THIS....
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.
JESUS PAID THE PRICE AND BOUGHT THE FIELD
HE BOUGHT US
HE PAID THE PENALTY OF OUR SINS SO THAT WE COULD HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO ENTER INTO THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN
WE ARE HIS TREASURE
WE WERE LOST BUT HE MADE A WAY FOR US TO BE FOUND
HE IS THE WAY
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
GOD HAS UNCONDITIONAL LOVE FOR HUMANITY
REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU’VE DONE
HIS SACRIFICE COVERS YOUR SINS
IF YOU ACCEPT HIM
4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.
YEAH BUT PASTOR CHRIS....
THERE IS NO WAY...
I STRUGGLE EVERYDAY WITH SIN
I CAN’T EVEN GO ONE DAY WITHOUT GIVING IN TO THE THINGS I CRAVE
I WILL SAY THIS.....
YOUR RIGHT
YOU CAN’T DO IT
NOT IN YOUR OWN POWER
PAUL SAYS THIS AS WELL IN ROMANS 7.
HE IS STRUGGLING WITH OVER COMING HIS SIN
BUT BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
WE OVERCOME
SO YEAH....YOUR RIGHT....
YOU CAN’T GO ONE DAY WITHOUT SIN ON YOUR OWN
PAUL SAID....I DIE DAILY
THERE IS A STRUGGLE WITH MY FLESH THAT IS A DAILY SACRIFICE
A SELFLESS LOVE THAT I AM WORKING TO ATTAIN FOR CHRIST
THIS WE KNOW…WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUERORS
I LOVE THIS SCRIPTURE......AND WE WILL CLOSE WITH THIS....
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
JESUS GAVE IT ALL
HE LAID DOWN HIS LIFE
HE CAME FROM HEAVEN TO EARTH
AND HE WAS BORN AND LIVED AND SUFFERED
AND WAS KILLED ON YOUR BEHALF
ALL BECAUSE......HE SO LOVED YOU
STAND TO YOUR FEET WITH ME....
EVERY HEAD BOWED AND EYE CLOSED
I WANT TO GIVE YOU AN OPPORTUNITY TO KNOW CHRIST
HE HAS GIVEN EVERYTHING FOR YOU
HE HAS PAID FOR THE WHOLE FIELD IN HOPES THAT YOU WILL ACCEPT HIM
AND PUT YOUR FAITH IN HIM
HE IS THE ANSWER

I THINK EVERYONE GOT A CANDLE COMING IN TODAY
HERE IN A MOMENT I AM GOING TO LIGHT MY CANDLE
AND THEN LIGHT SOMEONE ELSES
AND THEN WE WILL SHARE THE LIGHT WITH EACH OTHER AS WE SING
WE HAVE FRESH FIRE EXTINGUISHERS
AND THE SAFETY TEAM IS ON STAND BY.....LOL
