What A Wonderful Salvation!

King James Version (Luke 2:1-14)

2 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. 2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) 3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. 4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Beth-lehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) 5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. 6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. 8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, Good will toward men.

1. We have good tidings!

10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings...

English Standard Version (Mark 2:17)

17 And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”

i. It is good tidings because this is God with us! Immanuel!

King James Version (Matthew 1:23)

23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

ii. It is good tidings because this is God saving us! Savior!

11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

King James Version (Matthew 1:23)

21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

iii. It is good tidings because this is God reigning over us! King of Kings and Lord of Lords!

King James Version (Isaiah 9:6-7)

6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: And the government shall be upon his shoulder: And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, Upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, To order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice From henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

In order for this to happen He has to be alive!

Jesus conquered it all!

Jesus is the only one who can save the soul!

WE HAVE GOOD TIDINGS!

2. It is for God’s glory!

13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, Good will toward men.

God does things for His Glory! And He tells us in scripture that He will not share His glory with another! What God is doing in this town and surrounding towns and what He is doing in this church is not for our glory, it is for His!

Glory to God in the highest!

King James Version (Ephesians 2:7)

7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

3. These good tidings involve good will!

13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, Good will toward men.

He done it for His glory and for your good!

Tribulation

Judgment

Hell

He is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance!

11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

4. When received it gives great joy!

10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy,

This salvation is a joyful salvation! This is why we sing this song isnt it. I’ve got the joy joy joy joy deep down in my heart Where? I’m so happy so very happy, I have the love of Jesus in my heart!

Some don’t seem joyous ever and at all!

i. The message is a joyful message!

We have heard the joyful sound:   Jesus saves! Jesus saves! Spread the tidings all around:   Jesus saves! Jesus saves! Bear the news to every land, Climb the steeps and cross the waves; Onward!—’tis our Lord’s command;   Jesus saves! Jesus saves! Waft it on the rolling tide,   Jesus saves, Jesus saves; Tell to sinners far and wide,   Jesus saves, Jesus saves; Sing, ye islands of the sea, Echo back, ye ocean caves; Earth shall keep her jubilee,   Jesus saves, Jesus saves. Sing above the battle’s strife,   Jesus saves, Jesus saves; By His death and endless life,   Jesus saves, Jesus saves; Sing it softly thru the gloom, When the heart for mercy craves, Sing in triumph o’er the tomb,   Jesus saves, Jesus saves. When received it brings joy to the heart! Why?

ii. The master is a joyful master!

King James Version (Psalm 45:6-7)

6 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: The sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre. 7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: Therefore mGod, thy God, hath anointed thee With the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

iii. The kingdom is a joyful Kingdom!

17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

LETS RECAP: We have good tidings; It is for God’s Glory; it involves good will; and it brings great joy! So how can you get anything better than that! What a wonderful salvation!

Finally, the last point is this!

5. It is a global message!

10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
