Introduction: This evening, I want us to consider the doctrine of the Incarnation – God became flesh. He robed himself in humanity (See John 1:14).
The truth of God’s Son, Jesus Christ coming into our world is one of the central truths of the Christian faith.
The Bible provides multiple reasons for why Jesus came, each revealing a different aspect of God’s love, grace, and purpose for humanity. Understanding these reasons not only deepens our appreciation for His incarnation but also challenges us to respond in faith and action.
I want to share with you five Biblical reasons why Jesus came into the world, along with practical applications for our lives.

1. Jesus Came to Save Us from Our Sins – Luke 19:10; Matthew 1:21

“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” (Luke 19:10) “You are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21)
From the beginning, Jesus’ mission was to save humanity from the penalty and power of sin. We are all born into a fallen world and in need of rescue – we are sinners by birth and often by choice. Jesus came to be the Savior who redeems us, paying the price for our sins through His death on the cross (Romans 5:8).
Each one of us must recognize our need for salvation and respond to Jesus by repenting of our sins and accepting His grace (Romans 9:10-13). If you haven’t made the decision to follow Christ, now is the time to do so – don’t put it off. For those who already follow Him, this is a call to live in the freedom and forgiveness Jesus provides and to share this good news with others, knowing that we have been saved for a purpose.
Share the freedom you found in Jesus Christ with others.

2. Jesus Came to Reveal God’s Love – John 3:16; 1 John 4:9

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16) “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.” (1 John 4:9)
Jesus’ coming was the ultimate expression of God’s love for humanity (John 3:16). By sending His Son into the world, God demonstrated that His love knows no bounds. Jesus revealed the Father’s heart to us through His life, teachings, death, and resurrection.
Knowing that Jesus came to reveal God’s love challenges us to live out that same love in our daily lives. Are we loving others the way Christ loves us? We are called to love sacrificially, generously, and unconditionally, reflecting God’s love to our families, communities, and even strangers. Let us make love the defining characteristic of our walk with Christ.
GO” (fulfill the Great Commission) and love on them (fulfill the Great Commandment). Go and tell the Good News of Jesus Christ across the street, in your neighborhood, and even into other cities. Do you and I believe that people need the Lord? People need to be loved. Scripture says, “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” (John 13:35). People want to be loved – love them!
I came to Christ because God’s people loved me when I was still a sinner. That made all the difference in my life.

3. Jesus Came to Destroy the Works of the Devil – 1 John 3:8; Hebrews 2:14

“The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.” (1 John 3:8) “Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil.” (Hebrews 2:14)
Jesus came to break the power of Satan, sin, and death. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus conquered the enemy who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). In Christ, we have victory over the forces of evil, and we no longer need to live in fear or bondage.
Don’t live under what Christ has already conquered in your life. As followers of Christ, we are called to stand firm in the victory that Jesus has won – put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-20). This means resisting temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13), renouncing sin (Romans 6:12-13), and living in the power of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18). Are you aware that the power that raised Christ from the dead lives in us? (Romans 8:11). Don’t you think you are weak – you have God’s strength within you (Philippians 4:13). You and I can walk in the authority Jesus has given us, knowing that the enemy has already been defeated – Jesus defeated him at the cross. The Apostle John penned, “Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the word.” (1 John 4:4).
Let us live boldly and confidently, overcoming evil with good in every area of our lives.

4. Jesus Came to Give Us Abundant Life – John 10:10; John 1:4

“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10) “In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.” (John 1:4)
Jesus came to offer not just eternal life but also abundant life here and now. This is a life filled with purpose, peace, joy, and the fulfillment that comes from being in relationship with God. Jesus invites us to experience the fullness of life in Him, free from the emptiness and distractions of the world.
I would encourage you to live up to your position in Jesus Christ. My friend, you are a child of the King. Don’t live like a pauper when all of treasury of the King is available to you.
Hear what Paul penned, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,” (Ephesians 1:3).
Are we living in the fullness of life that Jesus offers? Too often, we settle for less than what God desires for us because we are distracted by material things, worry, or fear. Jesus invites us to experience true life by walking closely with Him, embracing His peace, and trusting in His provision. Let us pursue the abundant life that is found in Christ alone, making Him our priority and source of satisfaction.
Jesus only Jesus! Amen.

5. Jesus Came to Bring the Kingdom of God – Mark 1:15; Mark 10:45

“The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” (Mark 1:15)
· “The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is in your midst.” Luke 17:20-21 (NIV)
· “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45 (NKJV)
Jesus proclaimed the arrival of the Kingdom of God, which represents God’s rule and reign on earth as it is in heaven. His coming marked the beginning of this kingdom, which is characterized by justice, peace, healing, and restoration. Jesus invites us to be part of this kingdom, both in the present and in the future.
As citizens of the Kingdom of God, we are called to live in alignment with its values. This means pursuing justice, mercy, and humility in our interactions with others (Micah 6:8). Scripture must be our guide. It has been said that the word “Bible” means: Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.
As believers we are also called to serve others, just as Jesus came to serve (Mark 10:45). Let us be agents of God’s kingdom in our communities (but not secret agents). We must live out His love, compassion, and truth in tangible ways – God’s people are a giving people.
Please hear me – The Kingdom of God is not just a future hope—it is a present reality we can bring to bear in our world today. And every one of us knows that our world needs to become a better place. YOU make your part of the world a better place because Jesus lives inside of you.
Conclusion: Jesus’ coming into the world is the greatest gift we could ever receive. His life, death, and resurrection fulfill God’s plan for redemption, love, victory over evil, abundant life, and the establishment of His Kingdom. These are the wonders of God’s grace revealed through Jesus Christ.
As we reflect on these five reasons why Jesus came:
1. To save us from our sins.
2. To reveal God’s love.
3. To destroy the works of the devil.
4. To give us abundant life.
5. To bring the Kingdom of God.
Let us respond with gratitude, obedience, and a commitment to live out the gospel daily. We are called to share this message with the world, inviting others to experience the life-changing love of Christ.
