Hey Mr. Authority

Thinking like a child can be good in Christianity when it come to faith, however in every other instance it is not a good thing.  The issue on my heart this week has been one of authority.  This is a huge topic, but I want to discuss it from the point of view of a particular definition.  The definition is this;

 AUTHORITY - to have someone over you or to be subject or accountable to someone. 

In the young adult world it seems to be the hip or cool thing to be that person of who is a rebel.  A person who defies authority and just does his or hers own thing.  While that may be great theology if your God is MTV, it surely is not a BIBLICAL perspective.  In every case in the Bible authority is given with the condition of Accountability and for furthering Gods Purpose.  Look at Saul, or David and Nathan and so on.  Understanding Gods authority is to understand the principles of his power and kingdom. 

Matthew 8:8-10
"Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and that one, 'Come,' and he comes. I say to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it."  When Jesus heard this, he was astonished and said to those following him, "I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.

In every case in the Bible someone is accountable to authority.  When Peter and the disciples where increasing in numbers and problems within the church arose.  They decided to pick seven deacons to serve the church so they could focus on Ministry (Acts 6).  Two of those deacons where Stephen and Phillip.  Phillip in 2 chapters later is a Missionary in Samaria and ultimately helps fulfil part of the great Commission in Acts 1:4.  (To preach the gospel in Jerusalem, Samaria and Judea, and to the whole world.)  What's the point?  The Point is they were planted in a church under the authority of The apostles and then after seeing there faithfulness there, they were given more, in Phillips case a missionary to Samaira.  Paul the greatest Missionary of them all was also under the churches authority.  He and Barnabas were to Report to speak to the council in Jerusalem in Acts 15.  If your truly wanting to minister and feel a call on your life, then make no mistake if your not planted in a church somewhere under a churches authority then your not in Gods will.  Even if your intention is good you are to be accountable to someone.  There is no such thing as an Island in Gods Kingdom.  No ones on their own.

If you want to be used than start at church.  If your not planted then you will not grow.
