11 “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.
24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
4 And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.
What is Joy?
What is Joy?
Why is it important in the life of the believer?
Why is it important in the life of the believer?
John in our text
++Quantifies Joy
++That your Joy may be full
Is it possible that the joy we have experienced
++Has been minimized
++Just enough
What does it mean to have Joy that is full?
What does it mean to have Joy that is full?
8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.
9 “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.
When we are fruitful
++God is glorified
++We are His disciples
The Source of love
++Recognizing God’s love for Christ
++Knowing Christ love for us
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
11 “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.
Jesus spoke these things
++To give us his Joy
++That His Joy remains in you
++That your Joy may be full
The Source of our Joy is His joy
The Source of our Joy is His joy
28 You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of joy in Your presence.’
11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Lamentations 3:1–20 (NKJV)
1 I am the man who has seen affliction by the rod of His wrath.
4 He has aged my flesh and my skin, And broken my bones.
8 Even when I cry and shout, He shuts out my prayer.
16 He has also broken my teeth with gravel, And covered me with ashes.
17 You have moved my soul far from peace; I have forgotten prosperity.
1 “Man who is born of woman Is of few days and full of trouble.
What happens when
++The bottom falls out in our reality?
++When we face great adversity
++When we face loss
++When we can’t see God’s plan
6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,
This Joy I Have
++Is not situational
++Is not tied to the circumstances
++Is anchored in the Lord’s Promise
20 Most assuredly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.
This too shall pass
This too shall pass
5 For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.
22 Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you.
Now you have sorrow
Now you have sorrow
When I see you again
++Your heart will rejoice
++Your Joy will not be taken
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
We have new access
We have new access
In His Name
++We Ask
++We Receive
++That your Joy may be full
God has given us an open Heaven
God has given us an open Heaven
12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.
13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
God is Listening
++When we call
++When we go
++When we pray
God is available to you.
God is available to you.
18 The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit.
That your Joy may be full
That your Joy may be full
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life—
2 the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us—
3 that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.
5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
4 And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.
It’s Time to fill up
It’s Time to fill up
To fill up
++We must recognize God
++We must reverence God
++We must respond to God
++We must remain in the light
7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
