The Truth
The Truth!
Well it has been a while since I wrote in the blog. It hasn't been cause I have nothing to say, on the contrary. It has been because I want to choose my words wisely. I come into contact with so many people from different denominations it can be exhausting talking about doctrine and differences. I find myself asking and wondering for them also, "Do I live seeking the Truth from God?" Or is it easier just to rely on what I have been taught from my "denomination" or "non-denomination" in some cases? In schools they teach that truth is a matter of perspective or in some cases that there really isn't truth, that it is ever changing. However, that is just ignorant. The truth is what it is. It never changes. An example of that is we once thought the truth about the world was that it was flat. However, that was a version of what we thought truth to be. In reality we realized we discovered it was round. They keyword being we discovered. Denominations are comfortable because we think the discoveries have been made. So we sit there like dogs in a chair and absorb. When is the last time we sought to discover the treasures God gives for ourselves? That the Holy Spirit led you to the truth to a real discovery?
Acts 16:6
And they went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia.
We read over scriptures like this, but understand that the Apostles were led by the Spirit of God in every aspect of life including where not to go. I wonder sometimes who we are being led by, or worse, we are being led, or even worse, we are just following? What do we adhere to the leading of men our a knowledge gained through the Holy Spirit? Since when in the Bible are we called to be a bunch of followers? We are called to be a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9) does that sound like a bunch of people being pulled to the ear from one truth to another? A bunch of people passively sitting by getting fat on denominational doctrine? It sounds like a unified body of Christ who has found truth and are ready to tell the world. Where is your personal doctrine? Do you know what you believe? Have you considered that God might be trying to reach out to you in truth but you turn him down for denominational dogma? Do you search the scriptures? Do you know the ten Commandments and basic principles of the bible? Do you know what you believe?
I have found most people like to argue their way of faith. I listen intently and even try to take in the points they make, but then I see them later and they go to a bar and drink or they're outside smoking. So I ask myself, "Is this the fruit of their belief?" Think about that! They are the first to get angry, to want to debate, to speak their "truth", they want to be heard. Picture Jesus with a cigarette in his mouth, hanging out at the bar talking about chicks, philosophy, and politics. Is that what we are and have brought the Gospel to? Are we so self absorbed we don't have time anymore to find out for ourselves who God is?
We have to find our hearts open for what God wants to do, we need to be led by His Spirit instead of trying to win intellectual arguments! The churches in America have forgotten that America is dying because we are consumed with the right arguments, and have stopped seeking God for ourselves. Churches are not meant to be country clubs!
Rev 21:8
But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death."
Have we forgotten Hell and the fear of God? Do you know anyone that does the things on that list? Where is our urgency? Where is our faithfulness to the commandment Christ gave for the great Commission? March 11th we will begin a 9 week teaching on doctrine and evangelism. We are looking for serious people who hate to see the people of this region going to hell!
I realize that this blogg was serious, but aren't eternity and the things mentioned serious? We need to ask ourselves where our loyalties lay!
