Introduction

If you have your Bibles, you can open them to Luke chapter 2. This morning, we make it to the conclusion of our Advent series by looking at the last song in the Birth Narrative in Luke’s Gospel. Now I know we celebrated Christmas Wednesday and now we are gearing for the New Year, but since Sunday we focused specifically on the Birth of Christ, and then celebrated Christmas, I figured it would be appropriate to conclude this series by seeing what took place after the birth of Christ, following us celebrating Christmas. It is also my desire this morning to prepare us for the New Year by giving us 3 key reminders from the text this morning. The consistent theme that has been traced throughout this entire narrative is that “the Savior is Born”. This was first given to Mary when she was told to name the baby “Jesus” (1:31) which literally means “God Saves”. It would continue to be the them of Mary’s Song, Zechariah's Prophecy, and the Angel’s Song. Our text this morning continues in this theme, but this time, we will highlight a few things that we have not seen yet, concerning this baby and how He will save the world from sin. So stand with me as we read Luke 2:21-35.
