1 Timothy 1:19

(Read vs.18-20)
“Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:”
Destruction.
To make a shipwreck concerning faith, is to apostatize from the love, profession and dpractice of divine truth which had been embraced.
There are three THINGS that wreck a born again believer (especially the men in the ministry):

I. Girls.

1 Thessalonians 5:22 “Abstain from all appearance of evil.”
Job 31:1 “I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?”
Matthew 5:27–28 KJV
27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: 28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

II. Gold.

Exodus 20:17Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.”

III. Glory.

Galatians 6:14 “But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.”
James 4:6 “But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.”
Philippians 2:16 (KJV) “Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.”
(ESV Philippians 2:16) “holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.”

Conclusion:

You reap what you sow!
Galatians 6:7 “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”
Are you in danger?
1 Corinthians 10:12 “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.”
