Happy New Year 2025

What usually comes every new year?

Resolutions - weight loss, love, job

Every year for at least the first 2 months of the year the gyms will be full, but sadly resolutions will fall by the way side.

Why do you think resolutions fail so easily? I want a 6 pack, I want, i want most resolutions have a self centeredness to them.

Resolution- a firm choice to do or not to do something

Goal- The object of a person ambition or effort, aim or desired result

Ambition- a strong desire to do or archive something, typically requiring determination and hard word

Philippians 3:12–15 CSB

Not that I have already reached the goal or am already perfect, but I make every effort to take hold of it because I also have been taken hold of by Christ Jesus. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead, I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly call in Christ Jesus. Therefore, let all of us who are mature think this way. And if you think differently about anything, God will reveal this also to you.

So #1 lets change the term Resolution to goals

Go wants us to have goals

How many times have we failed at something and dwelled on the failing part more than we should have. We do grow through the hard times.

We can get into a woe as me funk when we don't have goals

Job 6:11 CSB

What strength do I have, that I should continue to hope? What is my future, that I should be patient?

Through all Job was going through he was concerned about his future

Goals keeps us going down the right path in life.

Life has always been a bunch of small goals- baby growing

Goals are what build our character

The christian live needs to be a life of intentionally

You dont just wake up being a perfect bible reader

A person’s heart plans his way, but the Lord determines his steps.

How do we plan our steps- we set goals

1 gods spirit empowers us

2 Gods Word should be our guide

Joshua 1:8 CSB

This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to meditate on it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do.

3 Gods People should support one another

Ecclesiastes 4:12 CSB

And if someone overpowers one person, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not easily broken.

We can help each other do our goals

1 Corinthians 9:24–27 CSB

Don’t you know that the runners in a stadium all race, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way to win the prize. Now everyone who competes exercises self-control in everything. They do it to receive a perishable crown, but we an imperishable crown. So I do not run like one who runs aimlessly or box like one beating the air. Instead, I discipline my body and bring it under strict control, so that after preaching to others, I myself will not be disqualified.

Goals = Discipline

read/ study bible

daily prayer

fasting

sharing faith

Heres my focus this year Discipleship

Wednesday we talked about this and how life is short and that we need to take advantage of the time God has given to us.

God is calling us

So we see God wants us to have goals in our life. God wants us to work hard to do the goals we feel called to do.
