INTRODUCTION

Central Idea: The light of salvation, as revealed through Jesus Christ, brings hope, guidance, and transformation to all who believe, illuminating the path to eternal life and empowering us to reflect His light in a world shrouded in darkness.

OBJECTIVES
Significance of the Light
The Hope of the Light
The Response to the Light

1. Significance of the Light

Luke 2:29–32 ESV
“Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen your salvation that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.”
Salvation is offered to all through Jesus Christ

Question 1: How can Simeon's testimony encourage us in our own faith journey?

Psalm 119:105 ESV
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Question 2: How does this verse connect the "word of God" to being a "light" for our path?

Question 3: How can we practically apply this verse to our daily lives?

2. The Hope of the Light

Eternal Life through the Light

John 12:46 ESV
I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.

Question 4: What are some of the "darknesses" we face in our lives and how does the "light" of salvation offer hope and deliverance?

Light in Times of Trouble

2 Corinthians 4:6 ESV
For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

3. The Response to the Light

John 8:12 ESV
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
As Christians, we must reflect God’s Light
Matthew 5:14–16 ESV
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
We do this to glorify God and demonstrate what he as already done for us through His grace and mercy. Not because we deserve it.
We DO NOT do this for merit
