Part two: a Life Like No Other
This morning we looked at the Savior like no other. We saw that Jesus is God himself, That he is almighty, but that he came to be the sacrifice to save us from our sins. Tonight we continue in John 6. We will hear Jesus’ words on what it is to live a life like no other.

1. A Life Like no Other Isn’t Basic

We often work hardest for things that don’t last (John 6: 22-27)
John 6:22–27 NKJV
On the following day, when the people who were standing on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there, except that one which His disciples had entered, and that Jesus had not entered the boat with His disciples, but His disciples had gone away alone—however, other boats came from Tiberias, near the place where they ate bread after the Lord had given thanks—when the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, nor His disciples, they also got into boats and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus. And when they found Him on the other side of the sea, they said to Him, “Rabbi, when did You come here?” Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.”
These crowds sought Jesus because they wanted another handout. They experianced the power of God, the Compassion of the savior, and the main takeaway they had was… “Lets get some more fish and bread.”
How often do we spend our lives seeking after the stuff of the world? More of this, or that. Its like the kids who opens 37 packages on Christmas morning, then the next day asks mom to buy them a toy at the store.
There is nothing wrong with working hard, or seeking to improve our lives But if we want a life that is different, then we need to have a different perspective. A heavenly perspective
Beleiving in Jesus is the most important thing(John 6: 7-29)
John 6:27–29 NKJV
Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.” Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”
The most important think to seek is our relationship with Jesus. The work is that we believe, but according to the Bible Faith without works is dead. James 2:18-20
James 2:18–20 NKJV
But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?
People can claim they believe with thier mouths all day long, without their lives matching up to it. Spend you life seeking Him.
When we Seek Jesus He provides our needs (Matthew 6:33-34)
Matthew 6:33–34 NKJV
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

A Life Like no Other, comes through Jesus

John 6:35–40 NKJV
And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe. All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”
So first thing to note is that biblical bread was not like what you find in our stores. It was full of nutrients, so that you really could eat it as a meal and not feel weak afterwards. But lets be honest at Olive Garden, Breadsticks is all that i need. (And possible a larger belt.) But lets look at this idea of bread in reguards to how Jesus gives us Life like no other.
Bread must be broken to give life (Matthew 26:26-29)
Matthew 26:26–29 NKJV
And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”
Jesus body was broken. He gave his all so that we might have life. He died in our place, as payment for our sins. Romans 6:23
Romans 6:23 NKJV
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Bread must be consumed to give life (John 6:50-51)
John 6:50–51 NKJV
This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.”
John 6:53–56 NKJV
Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.
What good would it be, to go to Williamson’s Bakery and order a dozen doughnuts. (Its still bread if its fried and covered with sugar right?) But instead of eating those rings of pure diabetes you set them on the counter and left them there. Day after Day becoming increasinly stale, for a month you don’t even open the box. What good would it do? Why waste your $$? If you want stale donuts by from Dunkin like a normal person.
Obviously we recognize that if you don’t eat food it is pointless. In the same way if you don’t accept Jesus sacrifice. Then it doesn’t help you at all. God doesn’t force the Gospel onto people, If you don’t want his grace and mercy, then you are at liberty to pay for your sins personally. The only problem is the payment is death, either Jesus’ or Yours.
The Bread of Life is Consumed through faith.
Romans 10:9 NKJV
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Hebrews 11:1 NKJV
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

A Life like no other, needs Faith that Endures (John 6:60, 66-68)

John 6:60 NKJV
Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, “This is a hard saying; who can understand it?”
John 6:66–69 NKJV
From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?” But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Not everything in the Bible is easy to understand. There is some wrestling that takes place in order to fully grow with the LORD. These crowds were undetermined to follow Jesus through the long haul. Which is put into stark relief from earlier in the chapter when they wanted to make him King.
This contrast shows that thier earlier desires were selfishly focused. They saw Jesus’ Power and wanted him to be king, because it would benefit them, But as Jesus moved to the spiritual truth of the blessings he really promises they give up and turn aside.
Contrast that with Peter’s Confession. Jesus asks the twelve if they would depart as well, and Peter says where would we Go? You have the words of eternal life, you are the Christ.
When our faith grows to the point of knowing that there is nothing else out there for us like Jesus. That He alone is our source of life. That He is all that truly matters, then following him into the unknown becomes easy.
Life is full of difficulties, Many people who claim Jesus, are more like fans than followers. They like what they can get out of him, life, peace, prosperity, buisness contacts, even community in the church, but as soon as it gets difficult they like these crowds disappear. To have a life that matters, you must follow him no turning back.
James 1:2–4 NKJV
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
The more our faith is tested, and we endure the hardships the more like Christ we become. He endured every temptation, every heartbreak, everything that it means to be human, yet he did not sin. That’s the type of person God is trying to turn us into. The image of his son. That doesn’t happen by accident, nor does it happen by anything short of miraculous working of the Holy Spirit inside us. Yet our job is to endure in the faith. to strive for Godliness in a world that celebrates depravity.

Conclusion

For us to have a life Like no other, it took a Savior like no other. The God man himself to become the bread of life broken for us. A life like no other requires a faith like no other, one that endures and seeks things that are above. The beauty of the Cross is that we can always start fresh. It doesn’t matter how far we drifted in 2024, today we can start to seek Him. We can renew the faith and grow with God in 2025 and see what amazing things that God has in store for us.
