Title - The sinner who fell in love with the Savior

good evening everyone---
thankful for the opportunity
please turn your bibles to luke ch 7
verse 36-50
the title of my message is the sinner who fell in love with the savior
I want you all to picture the first time
you turned your heart to Christ
and I want you to hone in on when you realized you were a sinner
and you needed forgivness…
story.. it was so cute
I had the opportunity to teach the childrens church on Christmas eve
We had 3 years old to 11 all in one class
and when I got to the end of my message
I gave an opportunity to repent from sin and receive Christ
and low and behold
there goes a 3 year olds hand up in the air
it warmed my heart
and I talked with one of the childrens leaders about it
because I dont think she knew why she was raising her hand…
She just loved Jesus
at 3
and shes like yup… I want to give my life to the Lord!!!
I was pretty confident She has already given her life to the Lord
but did she understand the magnitude of forgivness in her life
I think thats so important
because you need to know the magnitude of Gods mercy..
you need to know
that your sin was leading you to an eternity in Hell
and Jesus took all of your sin on the cross
and now by faith
He has made you christian… the righteousness of God
What was it like the first time
you realized that you were a sinner
and then you realized that Jesus
was able and willing to forgive you of your sin ...
Its an overwhelming experience.
so who were you prior to that experience?
I know for my self
before Christ
i was a mess and I lived a very sinful life…
I was at a point where I didnt think I needed forgivness
and then I reached a point where I didnt think I could be forgiven…
I remember one lady tried to witness to me
and I told her — I will come to Jesus once I get my life in order....
She laughed and said thats not how it works
but truly ..
I thought... what would God want with a bad guy like me?
and some of you may still be in that place…
but listen to me closely
God wants you
no matter how bad you have been
clearly, He wanted something to do with me.
and if your sitting here
He wants something to do with you too..
now for other people
you came to Christ as someone who
by the world standard is a pretty good person..
you didnt steal much, cuss much , or do drugs
you may have grown up in church ,
you werent the drug addict who got saved
or the ex gang banger
but you still knew you were a sinner
and you needed forgivness.
you knew you needed a savior.
so weather you came from an exceedingly wicked past
or if you came from a more stable place
we all understood
Romans 3:23 NKJV
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
christians are those who realize their sin is great
but their savior is greater
and this is what propelles us to love much
in todays message we are going to read about a woman
who realized just how good Jesus is
and we are going to dig into
How understanding Gods grace and mercy
lead her to loving Jesus extrodinarily
and I pray this message
will encourage you to love your savior all the more
so please turn with me to luke ch 7 vs 36 - 39
Luke 7:36–39 NKJV
Then one of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him. And He went to the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to eat. And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil, and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil. Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he spoke to himself, saying, “This Man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what manner of woman this is who is touching Him, for she is a sinner.”
