So often we get over whelmed with life. What I found out is that much of life is out of our control.
James warns us about boasting on what we plan to do. Even now someone has mapped out what 2025 will look like. But i can take you back to the end of 2023 when you said what you planned to do in 2024.
It did not work out as you planned. Sometimes for the good and somestime for the worse. One person will say this was a great year and another will say I cant wait for 2025 to come.
We can make plans. However, it is the Lord who disposes those plans . They don’t always work out the way we planned, but they do work out. Let me take you back to New Years Eve 2019. That was the last Watch Meet Service before this one.
Who would have imagined that we would not be able to attend church freely in 2020.
Who would have predicted that a invisible virus would bring the world to its knees. Its clear that James was right 4:13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— 14 yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. 15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.”. (Jas 4:13–15).
Let me bring it closer to you. Some of you lost jobs in 2024, Someone got sick in 2024. Someone got healed in 2024.
Someone lost family members in 2024.
What i am saying is that life has a way of be lifing and throw us curve balls. Unexpected things come up. Yet what I do know is God will never leave me and all things work together for the good of them that love God and are the called according to his purpose.
So what am I saying? At tend of the day the day ends and we have no control over it.
We must learn to trust God. Trsut that his plan will come to pass. Isaiah said, 13  I bring near my righteousness; it is not far off,
and my salvation will not delay; I will put salvation in Zion, for Israel my glory.” (Is 46:13). Then he said, we can just do as the Lord says.. Thus says the LORD:
“Keep justice, and do righteousness,
for soon my salvation will come,
and my righteousness be revealed.
2  Blessed is the man who does this,
and the son of man who holds it fast,
who keeps the Sabbath, not profaning it,
and keeps his hand from doing any evil. (Is 56:1–2).
Everyday i am earning to trust God more. The psalmist said,
8  Let me hear what God the LORD will speak,
for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints;
but let them not turn back to folly.
9  Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him,
that glory may dwell in our land. (Ps 85:8–9). (2016). Crossway Bibles.
So I am saying
One
Let tomorrow take care of itself
13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— 14 yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. (Jas 4:13–14).
One day at a time sweet Jesus is all I am asking of you.
The parable told in Luke 12:31-34 16 And he told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man produced plentifully, 17 and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ 18 And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.” ’ 20 But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ 21 So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God. (Lk 12:16–21).
That’s a good example of what happens when your plan does not include God.
We have to get our priorities in order! In that same chapter Luke the Lord shares about our anxiousness for tomorrow and provisions. Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. 23 For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. 24 Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! 25 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? 26 If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest? 27 Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 28 But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! 29 And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. 30 For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31 Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you.(Lk 12:22–31). (2016).
We must have faith that God will take care of you!
Two Value your life.
Its the Lord will whether you shall live What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. 15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” (Jas 4:14–15).
Yes our life is a vapor but our lives are in Gods hands. He is our protector. The psalmist said , 91 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
2  I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.” (Ps 91:1–2).
Finally
Don’t boast about your plans 16 As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. 17 So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin. (Jas 4:16–17). (2016). Crossway Bibles.
The Proverb Writer 27 Do not boast about tomorrow,
for you do not know what a day may bring. :1 (Pr 27). We get so caught up in our selves but the Bible said, Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips. (Pr 27:2).
Proverbs 26:12 said 12  Do you see a man who is wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him. (Pr 26:12). Be Humble! Like Kendrick said Sit Down!
This boasting is sin. Now we don’t like to talk about sin but this is a problem. Disobedience. One we know better we must do better!!! 20 For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. 21 For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them. 22 What the true proverb says has happened to them: “The dog returns to its own vomit, and the sow, after washing herself, returns to wallow in the mire.”
(2 Pe 2:20–22). 11  Like a dog that returns to his vomit
is a fool who repeats his folly. (Pr 26:11).
So when at the end of the day the day ends but we have confidence to know who holds our tomorrow. So I plan to go in 2025 expecting better, expecting more, but with the understanding it will come by the Lord’s hand.
