Daniel 11:39 KJV 1900
Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain.
The Alien God of Forces.
5236. נֵכָרnēḵār: A masculine noun meaning foreign. The word comes from a root meaning to scrutinize, perhaps drawing on the idea that people look closely at something foreign or strange (see nāḵar[5234]). The word modifies other nouns to signify a foreigner or a foreign god. Foreigners with their false gods posed a threat to Israel’s service to the Lord (Deut. 32:12; Judg. 10:16; Mal. 2:11); sometimes even infiltrating the Temple service (Neh. 13:30; Ezek. 44:9).
The Forces are the same Powers in Ephesians 2 and Ephesians 6. 4581. מָעוֹזmāʿôz, מָעוֹזֶןmāʿôzen: I. A masculine noun meaning a refuge, a fortress, a shelter. It signifies a stronghold or fortress (Ezek. 24:25; 30:15; Dan. 11:7, 10, 19, 39); or a protected location or place of safety (Judg. 6:26). It is used to modify sanctuary as a stronghold, indicating a temple possibly (Dan. 11:31). It also is used in the expression “god of fortresses,” indicating a god of war (Dan. 11:38).
