Oh Lord, merciful and gracious,
Slow to anger and
Abounding in steadfast love.
Great is your faithfulness Oh Lord.
We were a disobedient people,
Jew and Gentiles, both.
You, great God, are the Lord of the universe,
And we chose to disobey you.
We chose to despise you.
And what was your choice Oh Lord?
Your choice was to make
Our despicable disobedience
The single qualification for your
Display of mercy.
Your chose our faithlessness
To be the potters wheel
Of your faithfulness.
You chose our hard hearts,
To be the soft soil
Of your steadfast love.
And your choice
Your election is irrevocable!
Great is your faithfulness Oh Lord!
Lord of Abraham,
We Gentiles are not physical
Children of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,
But your choice was to give
Jacob's children and *us*
Access to your precious
And very great promises.
We thank you for the promised
Deliverer from Jacob.
Jesus, Israel's Messiah,
Who is the propitiation
Not only for the sins of Jews,
But of for the sins of the whole world!
And so we oblivious Gentiles,
Are now grafted into your family
Because you forgave our sins,
By uniting us with the fulfilment
Of Israel's Law,
And Abraham's offspring,
And we now celebrate
A new covenant
Inaugurated by Jesus blood.
Great is thy faithfulness Oh Lord.
Great God,
You reveal your mysteries
And your wisdom
And your knowledge
And your ways
To us people
With ink and paper.
And as we gaze at your
Mysteries revealed,
We are humbled,
Because, you, the Triune God
Have made us
Pathetic people,
Participants with you
In your grand plan
To save Israel and the nations
To fill the earth with your glory.
Oh what a mystery,
What great mercy!
So may praise and glory
And wisdom and thanks,
And Honour and power and strength
Be to you our God forever
And ever.
Amen
