Destroys the Church
Destroys the Church
in Luke 16:19–31 Jesus tells the story of a rich man who never had to fight for his food or work as hard as the people working under him. This rich man died after many years of wealth, though the afterlife would not prove easy. When he got there he saw a poor man he knew on earth, Lazarus, and begged the poor man to give him some water to save the rich man from being consumed by the flames, but Abraham was sitting next to Lazarus and in verse 25 & 26 he says: “Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.” Did this man do anything wrong besides being wealthy? Well he ignored his fellow man, which directly denies the teachings of love your neighbor, imagine his enemies if the rich man couldn’t even love Lazarus even though he never did him any harm. But is being wealthy a sin on it’s own
