Theology 101: Salvation, Part 2

Soteriology - Eph 2;8-9

Just before Christmas....We were talking...About the Doctrine...Of salvation…or Soteriology....And this evening...We want to continuing our discussion...On the doctrine of salvation. And with regards to salvation...During the Spanish-American War,...Clara Barton was overseeing... the work of the Red Cross...in Cuba. And..one day...Colonel Theodore Roosevelt...came to her…and...wanted to buy food....for his sick and wounded Rough Riders. But...she refused...to sell him any. And…needless to say....Roosevelt...was perplexed. His men...needed the help...and he was prepared....to pay out....of his own funds. So…when he asked someone...why...he could not buy the supplies...he was told,..."Colonel...just ask for it!" And then…a smile broke out...over Roosevelt's face. He....finally understood that...the provisions...ere not for sale.But that…all he had to do...was simply…to ask...and they would be given freely. And thats…salvation…you don’t have....to pay for is....salvation…is free…it is the gift of God..The Bible says…in Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Now isnt’ that…a blessing…the gift of God…is eternal life…it is a free gift. Aren’t you glad...

-But with that in mind…for the last several weeks....we’ve been studying… Theology 101....and we said that…all Theology…begins with God.... And… (Genesis 1:1

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

So...all Theology…begins with God....

And God is Omnipotent…All powerful

And God is Omniscient…all knowing

And God is Omnipresent…everyone present..

But at the same time…God is Gracious…loving…and merciful…and truth...

-Then…we discussed the Doctrine…of Christ...

we talked about the acquisition of salvation Ephesians 2:8-9

salvation is by grace, and grace of course is getting what you dont deserve.

and lets face it, none of us deserves salvation. The Bible says Romans 3:23

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
