Intro:

Abomination of Desolation

Mark 13:14–16 ESV
“But when you see the abomination of desolation standing where he ought not to be (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let the one who is on the housetop not go down, nor enter his house, to take anything out, and let the one who is in the field not turn back to take his cloak.
Abomination of Desolation is performed by the Anti-Christ
Anti-Christ = Opposite of Christ
The prophet Daniel talks about this
Daniel 9:27 ESV
And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week, and for half of the week he shall put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolator.”
This Anti-Christ will go into the temple halfway thru the tribulation and sacrifice a pig
Pigs are bad in Jewish culture
This infuriates God and he unleashes his wrath
It is going to be so bad that Jesus tells the Jews to run for the hills
The tribulation will be unlike anything the world is seen
Have you seen pictures of the fires down in LA?

False Christs

Mark 13:21–23 ESV
And then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘Look, there he is!’ do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform signs and wonders, to lead astray, if possible, the elect. But be on guard; I have told you all things beforehand.
Jesus then warns his followers that many fakes and frauds will come after him
Some might even do signs and wonders
They will deceive many people
Matthew 24:23 ESV
Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There he is!’ do not believe it.

There will be Signs

Mark 12:24–26 ESV
Jesus said to them, “Is this not the reason you are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God? For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. And as for the dead being raised, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the bush, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’?
Jesus uses the picture of a fig tree

No One Knows

Mark 13:32–34 ESV
“But concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come. It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to stay awake.
