Welcome to Day 13 of 30, incorporating the names and attributes of our God into our understanding and our following God. Today, we want to talk about God being the light of the world! Light is just one of the things we don’t give much thought to unless we need it and don’t have it.

13. Light of the World

In the Old Testament, God went ahead of His people as a pillar of fire to provide light in the darkness (Exodus 13:21). In the New Testament, Jesus called himself the Light of the World. It’s through Jesus that you are a light to the world around you, pointing people to Him.

Scripture:

Psalm 27:1 - The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

John 8:12 - Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

1 John 1:6 - If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

Prayer: Light of the World, thank You that there is no darkness in You. Help me walk in Your light—honestly with You, others, and even myself. Please light the way before me and teach me how to be a light to those in my circle of influence.
