Brazen Laver (Exodus 30:17-21)
Brazen Laver (Exodus 30:17-21)
The brazen (brass) Laver sat between the tabernacle and the Alter of sacrifice. For the purpose of Aaron and his sons to wash themselves before entering the tabernacle. The women of Israel had offered there looking glasses to the Lord and this is what the laver was made of.
Priest baptized
Priest baptized
At the consecration of the priest they were to be washed totally Leviticus 8:6 NKJV — Then Moses brought Aaron and his sons and washed them with water.
The priest used this for washing before entering the tabernacle or ministering before the alter: Exodus 30:21 KJV — So they shall wash their hands and their feet, that they die not: and it shall be a statute for ever to them, even to him and to his seed throughout their generations.
Here they would see all the blood and all of the filth from the sacrifices they had made on their clothes. And they would wash. It was important that they washed before entering the tabernacle because God said if they did not they would die.
With this laver God established the patter of baptism.
Daily washing
Daily washing
Its Not just a one time thing but us being made kings and priest unto our God by the blood of Jesus Christ, we continue to wash our hands and our feet daily
Titus 3:5 KJV — Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration (literally New Birth), and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Born again of the water and the spirit.
Peter noticed this parallel: Acts 10:47 NKJV — “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?”
These gentiles had skipped part of the pattern, they went from the alter straight into the holy place and Peter “commanded" (V. 48) them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. The washing was vital in the eyes of Peter and it should be to us also.
Buried with him in baptism
Romans 6:4 NKJV — Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
In order to die with Christ you must have the alter and the laver, you must be a living sacrifice that has died out to your own desires. Without the alter, you have no atonement and without the laver you have no cleansing water to enter the Holy Place.
Go back to the well that never runs dry EVERYDAY
Requirements for baptism
Acts 8:35-38 KJV — Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
We must be built according to the pattern layed out.

The Tabernacle (Exodus 26:1-30)
The Tabernacle (Exodus 26:1-30)
45’ x 15’ x 15’
The tabernacle had several layers of skins on the outside of it.
The exterior covering of the tabernacle was made of badger skins.
The tabernacle had a very plain appearance, it was nothing special to look at from the outside but the skins were very durable and able to withstand all the harsh weather in the desert. Yet within that tent dwelt the presence of the Almighty God.
Everthing about this bland looking tent was ordained by the perfect will of God to prophesying in the desert of good things to come.

Christ The Tabernacle
Isaiah 53:2-3 KJV — For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
When God was manifest in the flesh, the world could not see past the outer layer. There seemingly was nothing about this man Jesus that was special… until you started watching closely, until you begin to look within the tabernacle. What kind of man could command the winds to obey Him? What kind of man could forgive sins? What kind of man could heal men and women of the illnesses that they had? Most of all what man could tell a thief “this day you shall be with me in paradise"?
Isaiah 63 “Who is this that cometh from Edom? Why is your apparel red? I have trodden the winepress alone.
They are my people so He was their saviour.
John 1:10-12 KJV — He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
John 1:14 says “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us"
The ultimate fulfillment
Revelation 21:2-5 KJV — And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
Entering the Tabernacle
Entering the Tabernacle
The door to the tabernacle was 15’ x 15’ (225sq ft) compared to the gate 30’ x 7.5’ (225sq ft) Enter in the narrow gate a forshadow of receiving the Holy Ghost.
Enter the straight (Narrow) gate, wide is the gate and broad is the way to destruction.
Children of promise – We have been made kings and PRIEST
The Table of Showbread(Exodus 25:23-30)
The Table of Showbread(Exodus 25:23-30)
(Bread of presence)
3’ x 1 ½’ x 2’ made of Acacia wood overlayed with gold.
This is where the unleavened bread, wine, and golden utensils was placed on the table for the priest. This bread was eating before the presence of God and by the light of the candle stick in the tabernacle. This was where the priest had communion with God.
We need to come to a place where we can learn about God, the place should have the presence of God and the light of Jesus Christ should be in it.
We need to consume bread that is nourishment for our souls not just our body:
John 6:48-51 KJV — I am that bread of life. Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
While the priest ate the showbread to have communion with God, Jesus Christ gave his body that we might have communion with God, anyone who will partake in his flesh will have communion with God. (Eat flesh, drink blood, no life in you) In other words, anyone who will obey the Gospel of Jesus Christ will have everlasting life.
This bread was the body of Jesus Christ: 1 Corinthians 11:24-25 KJV — And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
Unity Of The Body
Unity Of The Body
All of this pain and suffering he took for you and me, that we may be made whole and redeemed from the sins of this world and be reconciled unto God and that we may be one body.
1 Corinthians 10:16-17 KJV — The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.
We are called to be one with each other in the body of Christ. This is HOW people know we are his disciples. We are in Christ and Christ is the head of the body, all things come from him and we are complete in him.
The Golden Candlestick (Exodus 25:31-40)
The Golden Candlestick (Exodus 25:31-40)
It was a beaten work of solid gold weighing 75-120lbs with seven bowls of light.
It was the only light of the tabernacle.
Only the high priest could trim the wick, fill with oil, and light the candlestick
The candlestick represents Christ being the light of the world.
John 8:12 KJV — Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
John 1:3-4 KJV — All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
Jesus Christ Told Us To Be The Light
Jesus Christ Told Us To Be The Light
We have been made ambassadors of Christ: Matthew 5:14-16 KJV — Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
We are held up by Jesus Christ: Revelation 1:13 KJV — And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
AND
Revelation 1:20 KJV — The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.
The Alter of Incense (Exodus 30:1-10)
The Alter of Incense (Exodus 30:1-10)
1 ½’ x 1 ½’ x 3’
Like the alter of sacrifice, it was square with horns on all 4 corners but unlike the alter of sacrifice, the alter of incense was made of aracia wood wrapped in gold with a golden molding.
Twice a day the priest would offer a special incense to the Lord. This incense was burned with the coals from the brazen alter. (Same fire) This was the one thing in the tabernacle that had to potential go move outside of the tabernacle, the smell of the incense.
Once a year on the Day of Atonement the High Priest would place blood on the horns of the alter.
This mixture was special to the Lord. Any man who was found making this incense for themselves was to be cut off from the children of Israel. (prayers should only go to God)
The Lord told Moses this was to never end. Exodus 30:8 KJV — And when Aaron lighteth the lamps at even, he shall burn incense upon it, a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your generations.
How does this tie to us
How does this tie to us
In a time of urgency David says “Lord I cry unto thee!” Psalm 141:2 KJV — Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
The blood for atonement that was applied to the horns of the alter made a living, perpetual savor unto the Lord.
Our prayers are made effective by the blood of Jesus Christ.👇
Romans 1:8 KJV — First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.
We do not lean on our own righteousness but Jesus Christ being our high priest crowned with righteousness our prayers come up to God as a sweet savior.
Prayers of the saints
Prayers of the saints
Revelation 5:8-10 KJV — And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
The veil
The veil
woven from fine linen and blue, purple, and scarlet
figures on it of cherubim
separate man from the presence of God
The Ark of The Covenant
The Ark of The Covenant
4’ x 2’ x 2’
Contained the 10 commandments, a pot of manna, and Aarons rod that budded
There was a lid on top of the ark that was solid gold. It had two cherubim facing each other with their wing spread over the mercy seat.
This is where God met with His people.
Once a year on the day of atonement the High Priest would present the blood of the bull and the goat to atone for his own sins and for the sins of the people.
He was to sprinkle the blood of both animals to the East of the mercy seat. (Judah)
The Veil torn into!
Even tho this is the most important part of the tabernacle during that time, God promised better things to come.
I desire mercy not sacrifice
The Gospel
The Gospel
Hebrews 10:19-23 KJV — Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
Revelation 1:5-6 KJV — And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
