Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.
For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
They, the supposed elect, but working out their salvation in fear and trembling! See below.
This eternal death is called the second death (Rev. 20:14). In Luke 9:25, to “destroy himself” (a.t.) means to subject himself to eternal death, which is the opposite of eternal life (John 6:50, 51, 58). Physical and eternal death are to be distinguished. Because they love the lie! Note that the antidote to this deceptive poison is the Word of God: His Living Manna in the scriptures in John 6: 50; John 6.51; John 6.58.
539. ἀπάτη apátē; gen . apátēs, fem. noun. Deceit, delusion. In the pass. sense spoken of anything which is deceptive, seducing (Matt. 13:22; Mark 4:19; Col. 2:8; 2 Thess. 2:10). In Heb. 3:13 connected with sin, meaning the deceitfulness of our sinful propensities.
Figuratively to send upon or among, with the acc . and dat . (2 Thess. 2:11); with the acc ., to send forth, thrust in (Rev. 14:15, 18). God shotguns strong delusion so that they will embrace the Lie that they have already wanted to believe.
(I) Delusion, false judgment or opinion.
5579. ψεῦδος pseúdos; gen . pseúdous, neut. noun from pseúdomai (5574), to lie. A lie, falsehood (John 8:44 [cf . Col. 3:9; 2 Thess. 2:11; 1 John 2:21, 27]; Sept .: Ps. 5:6; Jer. 5:2). (1 Thess. 2:3; 2 Thess. 2:11; Jer. 23:17).
(John 8:21, 24; 11:25, 26; Rom. 7:10; 8:13).
Notice to which church in particular that the HS addresses this letter to: The church of the Thessalonian; who inquired about the rapture.
The Mystery of Lawlessness in 2 Thessalonians 2.7-8.
When anarchy and chaos rule at every level of society, then the mystery will begin to reveal itself or himself. As shown in 2 Thessalonians 2.9. It is by the activity of Satan. With all wicked deception. The Great Apostasy will finally separate the sheep from the goats. God will send strong delusion so that false men will believe all that is a lie. Their Father the Devil showing their Spiritual Father to be Satan himself.
