I. Who Are You?

1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

To begin with brothers and sisters, Christian Friends,Well Wishers and Saints of God God gave me a mighty message that is meant to be meaningful to the masses on behalf of the Master. The Apostle Peter said that “We are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

These are some powerful, potent, pious, words coming from Peter the fisherman’.

who denied knowing Jesus Christ three times when things got rough.

OMIT Can I say something to you, you’ll find out who your friends are when things get rough.Real friends will stick with you and Jesus is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. And the church said Amen.

Pastor Peter is teaching us in V. 9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

Let’s go on a Treasure Hunt.

The directions are: Find the potent powerful nuggets of the text in verses 9 &10 . I counted 7 in verse 9. And I counted 4 in verse 10. I’ll give you a few minutes to search in the Treasure Hunt.

God made man a little lower than the angels. Who Are you? We are wonderfully and marvelously made. Who are you? I am a Child of God and God didn’t make no junk. Who are you? I am an heir of God and joint heir with Christ,who are you? I am an ambassador for Christ Who are you?. I am a messenger for the Lord, who are you? I am a soldier of the cross of Jesus Christ. Who are you?

I’m on the Battlefield for my Lord and I promised Him that I would serve Him until I die. I am in the Lord’s side. Who are you? Because the bible says

So a man thinks so is he. Who are you? And out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks and they are most likely are the issues of life. Who are you?

Sweet words are like a honey comb to the listener. Who are you? When people see you coming do they say Ah what you want ? or do they say hey sis hey brah what’s going on ( and you can tell that, that there’s a smile in their voice,because there’s a pleasant demeanor when they come around) Who are you?

II. What Do You Stand For? Joshua 24:15

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

If you don’t stand for something you’ll fall for anything. I’ll tell you something else too, If a person ain’t got nothing to lose then most likely they aren’t going to stand for nothing. You have a stake and a claim you’ll have a tendency to care.

Look at Proverbs 8:6 Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things. 7 For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips. 8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them. 9 They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge. 10 Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold. 11 For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

Having said thus I stand for Loving ye one another as Christ has also loved us.

Having said thus about what I stand for I’ll say with great humility Find peace in your life. and stand for peace over confusion. And if you seek peace God will give you a peace that passeth all understanding.

Having said thus. I stand for righteousness David said in Psalms 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. 12 Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes.

Having said thus I stand for Truth Because Psalms 119:30 I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me. 31 I have stuck unto thy testimonies: O LORD, put me not to shame. 32 I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart. And then Jesus said in John 14: 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Having said thus I stand for Walking in integrity Holy Living in Ephesians 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, 2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; 3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

III. Why Do You Do This?

Psalms 118: 19-25 19 Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the LORD: 20 This gate of the LORD, into which the righteous shall enter. 21 I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation. 22 The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. 23 This is the LORD'S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes. 24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. 25 Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity.

Why do you do this? Why are you standing for Jesus. Because Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

We’ve got to be able to ask ourselves these pertinent , significant, and important questions like

IV.How do you know if you’re right or not Acts 16:25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. 26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed. 27 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. 28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. 29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, 30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. 32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. 33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. 34 And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.

I mean how do you really know if you’re right for doing this/ for standing for this Christian belief system? Turn to Rev. 2:10 and let’s try too get answer from Jesus. Jesus said “Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. 11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

Are you respectful, who are you? Are you cool calm and collected who are you? Are you trying to live Holy? Who are you?

Listen to me real good “People can say what they want about you, but your actions speaks louder than your words”. “You’re either trying to live holy or you not trying. Peter is saying to this church in Rome be holy before a Holy God.because in Roman culture it was hard to stay clean in their polluted society.

Peter’s main theme in this epistle is How to stay clean in a polluted world. We have to be in the world but not of the world. And for the record the world loves its own and We live in a world now days where we can hardly tell right from wrong. And brothers and sisters I see flaws in the design. Because God said in 1 Peter 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Holiness is not a fad it’s faith walk.

Holiness is not a fantasy but its a God’s favor on our lives in our behavior.

Holiness is not revery but it’s reverence for the things of God.

Holiness is not partying like it’s 1999 but it’s being pious in our lifestyle.

Holiness is being devilish but demonstrating devotion to Christian Character.

Holiness is not exhibiting gross guersome behavior but it’s extending grace and gratitude where possible.

Holiness is not being hellish but being heavenly minded to be a help to someone in need.

Holiness is not perverted but it’s preserving biblical principles that lead to prosperity with Godly standards for stable living.

Holiness is not exploiting others but uplifting and inspiring folk to live their best lives in Jesus Christ.

Holiness is not being cantankerous but being compassionate with mankind.

Holiness is not being evil on purpose but being righteous in nature meaning being righteous in the core of you. Holiness is not being a babbling baffume but being bold with a beatitude of grave sober talk.

Who Are You? Proverbs 19:17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again. 18 Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.

III. Who Are you? A Man who desires to have friends must show himself to be friendly.
