Micah 6:8
Micah 6:8
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly[a] with your God.
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly[a] with your God.

Who are we here for?
Who are we here for?
Have you ever asked yourself Who do you come to the lord for? Is it for yourself, or is it for your family, or the less fortunate? Or do we come to the lord to praise and honor him? We as Christians forget why we come to church. We are charged to assemble to worship the lord. But when we are trying to convince people to come to the church we always try to sell the benefits of being one with the lord. Now don’t get me wrong there are countless benefits of being one with the lord. But when God commands us to make Jesus our lord and savior he does not promise us life becomes perfect. He tells us to give up our life and live for him. You see we tend to tell everyone how good life will be when we follow Jesus. But we forget there are life staggering changes we need to make to follow him. Yes when we follow Jesus our life does get better because we make better choices when we follow Jesus with blind faith. There are many blessings from our gathering as one in Christ. But why do you gather in his name? We just came out of the Christmas season. And have you ever thought why Jesus was born in a manger. We are told it was because there was no room for him in the inn. But I would like to read you a story about the meaning of Jesus being born in the barn.

I know your thinking what does Christmas have to do with Who are we here for? Well lets look at Who we are here for. We come for all kinds of reasons and we cover up and try to make everything all nice and pretty and clean even ourselves. But do we realize when we gather we are to come to the Lord as we are with all our imperfections, Just as he came to us on his birth. When we gather we are to gather to honor and worship him. Any blessing any teaching any answers he gives is just another one of his wonderful gifts. It does not matter if we gather in a Cathedral, or a barn a Temple or a park, God promises where 2 or more are gathered I am there. When we gather we are to worship and give praise to the Lord. Everything else we receive is a gift from God. In a meeting I had this week one of the pastors was telling about one of his parishoners pulled him aside after church and told him how much a blessing his sermon was and how his points which she went on to quote. Made a profound impression on her that day.Well he thanked her and after church went back and checked his notes and found out the things she quoted was not even in his sermon. This was God speaking directly to her. You see God knows our every need so when we gather lets worship him and be open to the gifts he will give us through our worship. So when we gather lets gather to worship the Lord.
