2 Pe 1:3–4. (NLT) 3 By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. 4 And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.
Background: In 2 Peter 1:4, the Apostle Peter emphasizes that God has granted us precious promises that allow us to share in His divine nature, escaping the corruption of the world.
He addresses believers in Christ—those who have received faith and salvation through the righteousness of Jesus Christ then and his words are applicable to all who have put their faith in Christ.
He encourages us to recognize the power of God’s promises in our daily lives.
When we understand and claim these promises, we can overcome our struggles.
We can reflect God's character in a world and stay on course.
It is through God's promises, believers are empowered to live godly lives and participate in His divine nature, which transforms our character and priorities.
Promises In Jesus
Christ's promises enable us to partake in His divine nature, offering strength and hope to overcome worldly challenges.
Salt & Light Promise: Maybe you find it difficult to connect with others because of your faith beliefs. Remember the promise in Matthew 5:14-16 to be salt and light.
The next time you attend a social event, challenge yourself to engage at least one person.
By actively listening and relating God's goodness you are showcasing the transformative power of His divine nature.
Habit or Behavior: If you've been struggling with a habit or behavior that seems to define your home life negatively, reflect on Christ's promise of transformation in 2 Corinthians 5:17. (New Creature / Old things pass away - New Things have come)
Take a tangible step towards renewal by discussing your struggles with a trusted friend or mentor in your faith community.
Openness creates accountability and starts a journey towards your new identity in Christ, impacting your home atmosphere positively.
Work Stress: The stress of deadlines and demanding bosses can often drain your spirit. Lean into the promise of 1 Peter 5:7, where you are encouraged to cast all your anxieties on Him.
visualize handing them over to God, allowing that mental release to empower you.
Family Stress: If you've been feeling overwhelmed by the pressures of family life, remember Christ’s promise of peace in Matthew 11:28-30.
28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Release your burdens in prayer, inviting God’s peace to fill your heart and home.
Trans: 2 Peter revolves around The Apostle Peter's encouragement and warning to believers to remain steadfast in their faith, grow in godliness, and guard against false teachings. It was written as a farewell letter, as Peter anticipated his death and wanted to leave a lasting reminder to the church.
2 Peter stands as a powerful reminder to stay rooted in God’s Word, be vigilant against falsehood, and pursue a life that honors Christ in anticipation of His return.

Sharing His Divine Nature
Through the Holy Spirit, believers receive the power to overcome sin, grow in godliness, and live victoriously. This enables you to experience God nature through doing the right thing for the Kingdom.
When we keep Gods commands, flow with his promises and do what He has written. We get to experience the peace and joy Jesus experienced. That which is divine, beyond our human experience. Amen.
Trans: Now lets pivot and talk quickly about Living in the Promises of God.
Illustration: Imagine a couple who were given a golden ticket that allowed them to attend any concert and meet any artist of their choice. They enthusiastically planned, yet on the concert day, they forgot the ticket at home! Living in God’s promises is like that ticket—it's a part of our inheritance. We often forget to claim what’s already ours, missing out on the excitement and joy that come from trusting Him fully!
The promises of God belong to us. Sometimes we forget we have them. Often times we forget to lean on them because they do provide strength.
