Group Dynamics
Forming - Storming - Norming - Performing
Connect - Equipping - Empowering - Sending
Forming - the process by which people come together through some kind of common bond or goal
Storming - the process by which “iron sharpens iron”; conflict is created due to multiple aspects of humanity to include, but not limited to, personality, culture, ethnicity, strengths, weaknesses, talents, experiences, education, knowledge, etc.
Norming - the process by which acceptance and tolerance produces effectiveness and ownership within the relationship and the common goal.
Performing - the process by which selflessness produces exceptional goal attainability; where people lay down individuality to rely on the strengths of others, compromise on responsibilities, and use personal best efforts in prioritizing the common goal.
Connect - the process by which people create bonds and relationship based on common interests
Equipping - the process by which people are led by authority to learn and exercise individual strengths and giftings in pursuit of common interests.
Empowering - the process by which accountable ownership and responsibility are shared through and/or delegated in pursuit of common interests.
Sending - the process by which ownership and responsibility employs/deploys personal responsibility and accountability under the blessing of authority
What is authority? Authority is accountability.
It is understanding and executing roles and responsibilities as delegated by someone in authority over me.
Authority in Kingdom is servant-leadership. Where I enable those in authority over me to lead/influence me in decisions and actions that impact the ultimate goals / mission for which my organization is created.
Intentional Relationships
Intentional Relationships
Jesus recruited fishermen first for this disciples.
They were uneducated men as far as societal norms, but they were trained in practicality and work ethic. They knew and understood the nature of relationships, and the bonds that enabled them to be successful in purpose.
One of the basic tools of the fisherman/angler trade is a net. A properly maintained net (network of rope) resulted in many caught fish, and large quantities of fish. A poorly maintained net resulted in fish getting away, low quantities of fish, and a probable risk of the net falling apart altogether. A fisherman’s responsibility is to maintain the net - network of rope links and knots - to stay productive, earn his pay, and support his family.
This is how we look at ministry teams: Jesus said He would make them fishers of men. And that they became.
One of the basic roles of a fisher of men, is to maintain the network of co-laborers in relationship, to cultivate an effective way of catching unbelievers. It is the responsibility of each node within the network to hold its end of the bargain in existing as the network links for the net to work.
Personal Exercise: Rank your strength in effectiveness of employing the relational behavior from 1 (weakest) to 5 (strongest).

LOVE IS A VERB. It is exuded from person to person. It is not kept unto one’s self. It is expressed and exercised serving another individual.
For God, love is obedience to His Word - which we know according to John 1, the Word of God is the Son of God. Being obedient to His Word and to Him in relationship.
The worst organizations are those which a worker has zero relationship with leadership. Those that are ineffective are those where the central leader takes all roles and responsibilities. An effective organization is one where each position is strongest towards the central leadership.
Now we’ll talk inter-personal strategies.
