the origins of King Uzziah. And how the Priest Isaiah know thew history of King Uzziah Because the book of Isaiah in the 6:1 teaches us that The Priest Isaiah was kin to Uzziah.
Uzziah was his uncle and the famous passage of scripture says in Isaiah 6:1-8 says In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. 2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. 3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. 4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts. 6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: 7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged. 8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

Sometimes folk got to die and get out of your life for you to change for the better. Sometimes we’ve got to get negative people from around us so we can prosper.

And so let me tell the story from the beginning since I’ve just read the end of the story of King Uzziah.

Look at 2 Chronicles 26:1 Then all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah. 2 He built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.

Uzziah’s daddy Amaziah died because he started being disobedient to the Lord. He started off good starts are good but the race is not given to the swift nor the battle to the strong but to those who hold out and is faithful until the end. And so now here comes Uzziah ruling Judah and Jerusalem in his father’s stead.

#7. In verses 9 &10 the bible says that Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the Corner Gate, at the Valley Gate and at the angle of the wall, and he fortified them. 10 He also built towers in the wilderness and dug many cisterns, because he had much livestock in the foothills and in the plain. He had people working his fields and vineyards in the hills and in the fertile lands, for he loved the soil. He was doing what a good king does he fortified himself and his people and he secured an economic future for them, especially with him being a war time king.

#8. King Uzziah grew militarily because the bible says in verses 11, 12, &13 that Uzziah had a well-trained army, ready to go out by divisions according to their numbers as mustered by Jeiel the secretary and Maaseiah the officer under the direction of Hananiah, one of the royal officials. 12 The total number of family leaders over the fighting men was 2,600. 13 Under their command was an army of 307,500 men trained for war, a powerful force to support the king against his enemies. Uzziah had a a strong military presence. He was a force to be reckoned with.

#9. Uzziah in verses 14&15 the bible says Uzziah provided shields, spears, helmets, coats of armor, bows and slingstones for the entire army. 15 In Jerusalem he made devices invented for use on the towers and on the corner defenses so that soldiers could shoot arrows and hurl large stones from the walls. His fame spread far and wide, for he was greatly helped until he became powerful. The Military’s budget had to be huge because Uzziah made sure that they had the leading cutting edge technology of his day to fight in a war.

And so we see why the prophet Isaiah thought of his Uncle Uzziah as a larger than life figure. But how many people know than no matter how big you get, you’ll never be bigger than God. And this is where the table turns.. And so we have given a brief description of the great accomplishments of a Hebrew king and God had approved of. One more time before we go forward to the end let’s look at verse 5 again. From the NIV version of the bible verse 5 says Uzziah sought God during the days of Zechariah, who instructed him in the fear of God. As long as he sought the LORD, God gave him success. I told you that the Good Lord told me in 2025 to Trust in Him not myself and having said thus I’m compelled to finish the text.

After giving you a ton of the beautiful, bountiful, and bold accomplishments of a great Hebrew king Now I’ve got to tell you that One Bad Decision can cost you your life. Because some things you just ought not do. It’s the first communion of 2025. And I vow not to be like King Uzziah. Let’s see what he did.

1. His Pride look at verse 16 the bible says But after Uzziah became powerful, his pride led to his downfall. He was unfaithful to the LORD his God, and entered the temple of the LORD to burn incense on the altar of incense. Uzziah said in his heart Rev ain’t nothing but a man like me, he ain’t no better than me, in fact I run things around here!!! I can do Rev job better than him. the bible says in16 But after Uzziah became powerful, his pride led to his downfall. He was unfaithful to the LORD his God, and entered the temple of the LORD to burn incense on the altar of incense. That’s where I would tell you don’t clown with God no..

#2. And that’s precisely what Azariah the priest told king Uzziah. Look at verses 17 &18 in the NIV bible. It says 17 Azariah the priest with eighty other courageous priests of the LORD followed him in. 18 They confronted King Uzziah and said, “It is not right for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the LORD. That is for the priests, the descendants of Aaron, who have been consecrated to burn incense. Leave the sanctuary, for you have been unfaithful; and you will not be honored by the LORD God.” preachers with a backbone said man you wrong!!! You know you out of order coming in God’s house like you think you can. King! we know you’re in charge of the country we are in charge of this church. And the Only authoirized personnel in this church are the Priest!!! King you ain’t got no business touching the anointed oracles of God. King we consecrate ourselves before we even think about touching God’s stuff. And you walking in here like you think you can.

Listen to me brothers and sisters the house of the Lord is not to be played with, manipulated with, or used as political leverage. Anything outside of the realm of holiness is out of order.

Okay 3x So the king burns the holy incense that only the Priest of the Levitical Order can burn. Only the descendants of Aaron, Moses’ brother who was the first human High Priest could perform this sacred act. I’ve been here 24 years now and I’ve never seen nobody that disobedient in here. I’ve never seen nobody that outlawish in here before. I bet you I couldn’t get nobody to just come up here and say move on the side Rev Allen I’m going to deliver communion today because I’m in charge.

Because I’ve learned that God don’t play with none of us. We are here by the grace of God.

#3. Look at what happens next. Verses 19 &20 says Uzziah, who had a censer in his hand ready to burn incense, became angry. While he was raging at the priests in their presence before the incense altar in the LORD’s temple, leprosy z broke out on his forehead. 20 When Azariah the chief priest and all the other priests looked at him, they saw that he had leprosy on his forehead, so they hurried him out. Indeed, he himself was eager to leave, because the LORD had afflicted him.

Uzziah said Y’all don’t tell me what to do I tell y’all what to do I’m the king. You’ll ain’t nothing but the preachers priests and poimans. And the bible says while Uzziah was ranting and raging at the priest and trying to light the holy incense GOD struck him with leprosy and Azariah and the other priests hurried king Uzziah out of the temple.

#4 and the bible says that Uzziah was ready to go out of the temple as fast as he could get out of there. This sacred thing called ministry ain’t to be played with.

It’s personal brothers and sisters, and if you barely escaped that last time you did something unholy consider what happened to Uzziah next.

Your heart and your free will. This is our second warning on the new year. I’m listening. Nothing was a coincidence, Nothing was random, All things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to his purpose. Nothing in your life ought to want to make you think that you are above the law of God.

Because the bible says 22 The other events of Uzziah’s reign, from beginning to end, are recorded by the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz. 23 Uzziah rested with his ancestors and was buried near them in a cemetery that belonged to the kings, for people said, “He had leprosy.”And Jotham his son succeeded him as king. Isaiah said Uncle Uzziah started off real good, but somewhere along the way the pride in his heart caused him to sin. and God give us free will to make good decisions godly decisions , righteous decisions, holy decisions, fair decision equitable decisions, honorable decisions and respectful decisions.
