Slide 1: Sanctification

The Crisis and Progression of Sanctification Understanding Sanctification and How it Shapes the Believer’s Life

Slide 2: Introduction to Sanctification

What is Sanctification?
Sanctification means becoming holy—set apart for God.Being set apart means living a life dedicated to God, belonging only to Him.This separation leads to freedom from sin and a life reflecting God’s likeness.

Slide 3: The Beginning of Sanctification

When Does Sanctification Start?
Ephesians 1:4 (NIV)"For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight."
2 Timothy 2:20-21 (NIV)"In a large house there are articles... those who cleanse themselves... will be made holy, useful to the Master."
Sanctification begins when a person accepts Christ
Christ’s death and resurrection leads to justification—being declared righteous.Titus 3:5 (NIV)“He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy...”

Slide 4: Sanctification at Salvation

The Role of Christ’s Sacrifice
At salvation, we are made holy, cleansed by the blood of Christ.
1 Corinthians 6:11 (NIV)"That is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God."
Sanctification starts immediately but continues throughout life.

Slide 5: Sanctification is Ongoing

Sanctification is Progressive
1 Peter 1:2 (NIV)“who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit...”
Hebrews 10:10 (NIV)“And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”
Sanctification continues as believers grow in holiness through the work of the Holy Spirit.

Slide 6: Living Set Apart for God

Our Daily Pursuit of Holiness
We are to live set apart for God every day, becoming more like Him.Romans 12:1-2 (NIV)“Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship...”
This involves resisting the patterns of this world and being transformed through renewing our minds.

Slide 7: Holiness is Progressive

Growing in Holiness Each Day
1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession...”Holiness is not a one-time event; it’s a progressive process.Philippians 2:12 (NIV)“Continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling.”

Slide 8: The Role of the Holy Spirit in Sanctification

How the Spirit Helps Us Grow in Holiness
The Holy Spirit empowers believers to live holy lives.
Philippians 1:9-11 (NIV)“And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more... that you may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ.”
Sanctification is a continual process led by the Spirit in our lives, as we mature in faith.

Slide 9: Practical Application
