Get Up and Walk
Get Up and Walk
When he entered Capernaum again after some days, it was reported that he was at home.
So many people gathered together that there was no more room, not even in the doorway, and he was speaking the word to them.
They came to him bringing a paralytic, carried by four of them.
Since they were not able to bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him, and after digging through it, they lowered the mat on which the paralytic was lying.
Seeing their faith, Jesus told the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”
But some of the scribes were sitting there, questioning in their hearts:
“Why does he speak like this? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
Right away Jesus perceived in his spirit that they were thinking like this within themselves and said to them, “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts?
Which is easier: to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat, and walk’?
But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he told the paralytic—
“I tell you: get up, take your mat, and go home.”
Jesus in the house...
A paralyzed man brought to church, with no access, not really welcome. Come anyway.
Jesus saw their faith. We need to let him see our faith, by our actions
There are many ways people are paralyzed.
Jesus is here for change that:
No matter the cause.
Whatever is paralyzing you its time to get up and walk
Fear, Rejection
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and sound judgment.
Addiction
So if the Son sets you free, you really will be free.
Guilt and shame from your past messes in life
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!
Offense and Unforgiveness
So also my heavenly Father will do to you unless every one of you forgives his brother or sister from your heart.”
Wounds/Hurts from the past
The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free the oppressed,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.
Sin
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Jesus has word for it...
Sometimes we don’t hear because we need to:
Find better friends…the ones keeping you away are keeping you down.
Hear and receive His Word preached and spoken to you.
God can’t speak to us beyond what we have heard in His word.
Religion won’t get you up but The Word will
Own our situation…take up you bed. Deal with your issue. Quit wallowing in your position carry it home. Quit blaming others, and circumstances, and everything else.
Get up…get up get up get up and walk. Walk by faith...
