WELCOME/INTRODUCTION
Good morning kids! {Good morning!} … Let’s try that again… GOOD MORNING! {GOOD MORNING!}
Welcome to Children’s Church.
We’re glad you’re all here to worship with us this morning.
I know it’s been a few weeks since you have been together.
It’s my turn to talk and your turn to listen.
We get to worship God this morning!
God is the ONLY one we should worship. In our story today we will learn about people who try to worship things OTHER than God..
But this morning we are going to focus on HIM only..because we love Him and HE deserves it!
We worship by praying and singing, and by reading God's word- the Bible-
We are going to hear the the story of redemption, which is how God brings us back to himself-
and we can worship even through giving.
So WHEN IT’S TIME- Sing joyfully, listen, and pray out loud when the time comes.
ok let’s get this morning going with our Call to Worship…
our call to worship reminds us that it is GOD who invites us to come and worship him.
if you can read- Read the UNDERLINED parts with me.
If you can’t read I want you to listen for the word LOVE…
Every time you hear the word LOVE I want you to do this (love in sign language- cross on chest..this is LOVE in sign language (cross on chest).
Taste and see that the LORD is good.
For His steadfast love endures forever.
PRAYER
Our hands we fold- Our heads we bow, so we can talk to God just now.
Let’s pray. … Father in heaven, bless us with a beautiful sense of your presence that we may be at peace and may worship you with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Stand and sing
WORSHIP
- 10,000 Reasons
If you can’t read- I want you to listen for the phrase OH MY SOUL in this song
When you say OH MY SOUL- you are telling God you are worshipping him with YOUR WHOLE BODY..
So…when you hear that phrase. I want you to give yourself a hug every time you hear it- to remind yourself that ALL of your body was meant to worship God.
- Lead me to the Cross
In this song- if you can’t read, I want you to listen for the word Cross and then make a cross with your fingers.
MEMORY VERSE- BECCA
There is no one holy like the lord, there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God. Samuel 2:2
PASSING THE PEACE
It’s now Time for the passing of the peace…lets take a few seconds to say hey to a friend…maybe give someone a high five or a fist bump- or just say hello..
PRESCHOOL LEAVES
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
Prayer is simply talking with God.
Did you know that God hears EVERY SINGLE PRAYER..
The Bible tells us that he hears and holds every prayer we pray and that he WILL respond in HIS way and HIS time.
God hears us when we pray; he wants to know us and know what’s going on in our hearts.
Let’s keep in mind the ABC’s of group prayer:
A is audible - pray so others can hear you
B is brief - keep it short so others can pray
C is for Christ centered - let’s keep Jesus as the focus
We will start by thanking God..you can thank him for your friends, family, the things God has given you, or the things you see outside like the snow, trees, or animals.
then we will bring our requests- or the things on our hearts to him.
so jump in and pray with me.
Our hands we fold, our heads we bow..so we can talk to God just now.
Pray with me.
God you are so, so good and you love us so much.
Thank you for hearing and holding each and every one of our prayers…
Thank you God for…..(WAIT FOR A FEW KIDS TO PRAY)
thank you for bringing each of these children here today to worship you and to learn more about you.
And thank you that we can bring all of our requests to you.
God would you….(wait on kids to pray)
(After several have prayed say): Now let’s pray as Jesus taught us to pray saying }
THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our father in heaven, hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come your will be done on earth on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil for yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
CATHECISM
Question 19:
Is there any way to escape punishment and be brought back into God’s favor?
Answer:
Yes, God reconciles us to himself by a Redeemer.
Question 20:
Who is the Redeemer?
Answer:
The only Redeemer is the Lord Jesus Christ.
GIVING/DOXOLOGY
We’re going to continue to worship through giving.
Everything we have belongs to God and it’s our joy to give toward the work of his kingdom coming here on earth through our little church family.
Don’t feel like you HAVE to have something to give.
But we’re going to pass an offering bag around if you’d like to give.
And we’ll sing a song called the doxology as we do.
SCRIPTURE READING
I clap my hands, I touch my feet,
I jump up from the ground.
I clap my hands, I touch my feet,
And turn myself around.
I clap my hands, I touch my feet,
I sit myself right down.
I clap my hands, I touch my feet,
I do not make a sound.
——
This is your time to listen to our Bible story.
This is God’s true word
and everything in God’s word is ABSOLUTELY TRUE.
So you don’t want to miss it.
At the end of the reading our reader will say, “This is the Word of the Lord” and you’ll say, “Thanks be to God!
This week's Scripture reading comes from the book of Exodus, chapter 32,
verses 1-8.
When the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron and said to him, “Up, make us gods who shall go before us. As for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.” So Aaron said to them, “Take off the rings of gold that are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.” So all the people took off the rings of gold that were in their ears and brought them to Aaron. And he received the gold from their hand and fashioned it with a graving tool and made a golden calf. And they said, “These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!” When Aaron saw this, he built an altar before it. And Aaron made a
proclamation and said, “Tomorrow shall be a feast to the Lord.” And they
rose up early the next day and offered burnt offerings and brought peace offerings. And the people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play.
And the Lord said to Moses, “Go down, for your people, whom you brought up out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves. They have turned aside quickly out of the way that I commanded them. They have made for themselves a golden calf and have worshiped it.
This is the word of the Lord.
EVERYONE: Thanks be to God.
