MARK 1:40-45

Mark 1:40–45 ESV

40 And a leper came to him, imploring him, and kneeling said to him, “If you will, you can make me clean.” 41 Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand and touched him and said to him, “I will; be clean.” 42 And immediately the leprosy left him, and he was made clean. 43 And Jesus sternly charged him and sent him away at once, 44 and said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, for a proof to them.” 45 But he went out and began to talk freely about it, and to spread the news, so that Jesus could no longer openly enter a town, but was out in desolate places, and people were coming to him from every quarter.

Numbers 5:2 ESV

2 “Command the people of Israel that they put out of the camp everyone who is leprous or has a discharge and everyone who is unclean through contact with the dead.

Leviticus 13:44 ESV

44 he is a leprous man, he is unclean. The priest must pronounce him unclean; his disease is on his head.

Leviticus 13:45 ESV

45 “The leprous person who has the disease shall wear torn clothes and let the hair of his head hang loose, and he shall cover his upper lip and cry out, ‘Unclean, unclean.’

1- THE CONFESSION OF THE LEPER

A- THE LEPER HUMBLED HIMSELF BEFORE JESUS.

6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you,

B- THE LEPER SUBMITTED TO THE WILL OF JESUS.

2- THE COMPASSION OF JESUS

A- JESUS TOOK PITY ON THE OUTCAST.

Mark 1:41 ESV

41 Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand and touched him and said to him, “I will; be clean.”

The Dalits of India

the untouchables in india

In India, the dalits are approximately 300 million people who are deemed “untouchable” and comprise the lowest rung of the Hindu caste system. Since the origin of this system 3,000 years ago, the Dalits have lived in bondage to the code of caste. They have been unable to escape their fate and are deprived of even the most basic liberties and privileges, including the freedom to decide where to live, work and worship.

B- IMMEDIATELY THE LEPER WAS HEALED.

Mark 1:42 ESV

42 And immediately the leprosy left him, and he was made clean.

when jesus touched the leper he took on his infirmity just like he does with our sin.

Shackled by a heavy burden 'Neath a load of guilt and shame Then the hand of Jesus touched me And now I am no longer the same.

He touched, oh, he touched me And oh the joy that floods my soul! Something happened, and now I know He touched me, and made me whole.

Since i've met this blessed savior Since he's cleansed and made me whole I will never cease to praise him I'll shout it while eternity rolls.
