Introduction
Luke 24:32 “And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?”
Psalm 119:11 “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”
Psalm 119:15 “I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.”
Psalm 119:97 “MEM. O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day
Psalm 119:99 “I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.”
Compliance: “The act of complying; a yielding, as to a request, submission. As the compliant branch.”
John 15:4–5 “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”
The emphasis this morning is on the Scriptures. What does the Bible mean to you? What place in your life does the Bible occupy? When our hearts are in compliance with the Word of God, we shall be made unto vessels of honor. Therefore, it is when, the Word of God works in our hearts and transforms our minds that we will be able to act upon these five pillars of victory and possess within, A Heart of Compliance.
When Our Hearts are Compliant with God’s Word we are able to Forsake Ourselves
Romans 6:6 “Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.”
Galatians 5:24 “And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.”
2. When our Hearts are Compliant with God’s Word we are able to Forgive Others
Ephesians 4:32 “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
Colossians 3:13 “Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.”
3. When our Hearts are Compliant with God’s Word to Forget our past Failures
Proverbs 24:16 “For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.”
4. When our Hearts are Compliant with God’s Word we are able to Focus on our Saviour - It is through the Word of God that we are able to focus on the Saviour. Through the Word of God our eyes are fixed upon Jesus, and the Holy Spirit directs our spiritual eyes to Jesus as we continually feast upon the Word of God we keep Jesus in focus.
Hebrews 12:2 “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
5. When our Hearts are Compliant with God’s Word we are able to Flourish in our Season
Psalm 1:1–3 “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
6. When our Hearts are Compliant with God’s Word we are able to Finish our Service
2 Timothy 4:6–8 “For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
