Why do we live the way we do?

Why do we keep on believing?
Why do we live the way we do?
Hebrews 11:13–14 NASB95
13 All these died in faith, without receiving the promises, but having seen them and having welcomed them from a distance, and having confessed that they were strangers and exiles on the earth. 14 For those who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a country of their own.
Hebrews 11:15–16 NASB95
15 And indeed if they had been thinking of that country from which they went out, they would have had opportunity to return. 16 But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; for He has prepared a city for them.
11:13
We live by a different standard…
11:14-16
We look for a different reward…
Abraham was looking for a city
11:10 and 11:16
We serve a different God…
He died for us while we were still sinners.
Romans 5:8 “still” Greek - Eti is used to describe something that continues or persists in a state or action. It can also indicate that something remains unchanged or ongoing.
Romans 5:8 NASB95
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Upon a life I did not live, Upon a death I did not die, I stake my whole eternity.
Hebrews 11:16 “16 But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.”
Our God is not ashamed of being the God of imperfect sinners who put their trust in Him.
This is what gives us much HOPE.
We die with a different HOPE than the world…
We MUST live like Jesus and die well…full of faith and hope and joy in the LORD.
Challenge:
Think about what you are saying, think about what you are posting on social media…does it make someone want to look for the heavenly city that is being prepared.
Are we speaking FAITH?
Are we speaking HOPE?
Are we speaking JOY?
