Main Passage:
Main Passage:
Wisdom has built her house;
she has carved its seven columns.
She has prepared a great banquet,
mixed the wines, and set the table.
She has sent her servants to invite everyone to come.
She calls out from the heights overlooking the city.
“Come in with me,” she urges the simple.
To those who lack good judgment, she says,
“Come, eat my food,
and drink the wine I have mixed.
Leave your simple ways behind, and begin to live;
learn to use good judgment.”
God’s purpose in all this was to use the church to display his wisdom in its rich variety to all the unseen rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.
Introduction to Topic:
Introduction to Topic:
The last time I preached on this stage, I spoke about the fear of the Lord and how to cultivate this quality in our lives as christians. The start of all knowledge and wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord.
Today, I want to speak about wisdom. The wisdom of God that is displayed and seen through his church.
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
As the Potter molds and shapes the clay to become a masterpiece, so God has created us anew in Christ Jesus to display his glory and wisdom.

Story:
Story:
A theological word that we should all commit to heart and pursue as disciples is: ‘Christology.’ It is the study of the person of Christ. Both his Humanity and Divinity.
All throughout the narrative of the bible, from Genesis to Revelation, it testifies of one person: Jesus Christ.
“You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me! Yet you refuse to come to me to receive this life.
Jesus is claiming here that all of the old testament and soon to be written, the new covenant, points to Him.
Explanation:
Explanation:
In other words when we read the bible, we should always ask and seek the Holy Spirit to reveal Jesus to us. It’s only in Jesus that we find eternal life.
Illustration:
Illustration:
Illustration 1: The story of David and Goliath: Jesus is David. Goliath is sin, death, and Satan. We are the scared Israelite army.
Illustration 2: Wisdom is not a concept but the person of Christ.
But to those called by God to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.
Application:
Application:
Christ is the embodiment and manifestation of wisdom. So when we read the word Wisdom, I want us to think Jesus; Because Jesus Christ is wisdom.
It’s important to lay this foundation before we continue so we don’t miss the point of scripture and the eternal life we can receive from it.

Points
First Quality: Holiness
First Quality: Holiness
Explanation:
Explanation:
In other words, we are God’s Holy temple and a Holy priesthood.
To be holy means that we are set apart for God’s plan and purpose. Jehovah Nissi means our, ‘God our banner.’ He claims us as His own by putting his name and victory over us. To be Holy means to be set apart for the work of the Lord.

Illustration 1: Proverbs 9:1
Wisdom has built her house;
she has carved its seven columns.
Illustration 2: 1 Peter 2:5
And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What’s more, you are his holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God.
Application:
Application:
Today, we are the temple of God where His Holy Spirit dwells, and we serve as priests to serve God for the purpose of showing others the goodness of God.
But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
“Once you had no identity as a people;
now you are God’s people.
Once you received no mercy;
now you have received God’s mercy.”
Second Quality: Peace - Complete Rest
Second Quality: Peace - Complete Rest
Explanation:
Explanation:
The church displays the wisdom of God when we are resting in the finished work of Jesus Christ. This rest brings peace to our minds.
The Proverbs says that Wisdom has carved out seven pillars (Proverbs 9:1b)
Seven is the number of completion in the bible.
Illustration:
Illustration:
Illustration 1: Genesis 2:3
And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when he rested from all his work of creation.
Illustration 2: Hebrews 4:9-10
So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world.
Application:
Application:
In my conversations with many believers, I’ve noticed a fear and worry about their salvation not being secure and the possibility of being punished by God. As a result, they often live with a mindset of labouring to earn God’s acceptance. But God’s people should not be marked by fear but peace, resting in the love of God.
Illustration 3: 1 John 4:18
Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.
When we fear punishment from God, it shows that we have not been resting or trusting in the finished work of Jesus Christ.
But when there is a people at peace, in complete rest, it displays the wisdom and glory of God.
Third Quality: Joy (V.2)
Third Quality: Joy (V.2)
Explanation:
Explanation:
Joy is one of the pillars of our Christian faith and the Bible speaks of a time of immense joy, often referred to as the Great Banquet.
Proverbs 9:2, “Wisdom has prepared a great banquet, mixed the wines, and set the table.”
Isaiah 25:6, “In Jerusalem, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will spread a wonderful feast for all the people of the world. It will be a delicious banquet with clear, well-aged wine and choice meat.”
Matthew 22:1-14. Jesus refers to a great banquet.
The Jewish people expected the Messiah to come, over throw their oppressors and usher in the Davidic kingdom, bringing prosperity and peace. The kingdoms arrival was seen as a time of joy and celebration, marked by a great banquet.
The problem was, during Jesus' time, the kingdom of God was manifesting to everyone He encountered, but the religious leaders missed it because it did not come in the way they expected. For example.
Illustration:
Illustration:
Illustration 1: Matthew 12:28
But if I am casting out demons by the Spirit of God, then the Kingdom of God has arrived among you.
Application:
Application:
The religious leader expected a physical kingdom with a physical banquet but Jesus was manifesting a spiritual kingdom, where the banquet is freedom, peace, love, and joy. The banquet is not mere food but experiencing the fruit of the kings presence.
Illustration 2: We’ve all experienced feeling down, sad, or stressed, but when we enter God’s presence through prayer or His Word, we come out feeling liberated, filled with joy, and with a fresh perspective. That’s what it means to experience God’s banquet in the kingdom of God.
The Joy of the Lord in us is one the qualities that displays the wisdom of God.
Fourth Quality: Service
Fourth Quality: Service
Explanation:
Explanation:
Service is the last quality the displays the wisdom of God. One of our services in honour of the king we serve is to invite people to the King himself.
Illustration:
Illustration:
She has sent her servants to invite everyone to come.
She calls out from the heights overlooking the city.
“Come in with me,” she urges the simple.
To those who lack good judgment, she says,
“Come, eat my food,
and drink the wine I have mixed.
Leave your simple ways behind, and begin to live;
learn to use good judgment.”
Application:
Application:
We are called to invite all people, believer and unbeliever, to the king so they can taste and see that the Lord is good. There is none like him. For only the Lord can truly satisfies.
