Big Idea:

The Old Testament includes God’s ancient promise of salvation.

Intro:

Romans 3:1–2 ESV
Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the value of circumcision? Much in every way. To begin with, the Jews were entrusted with the oracles of God.
Start of Season 2: More to the Old Testament
Jews had the OT / What’s the purpose of the OT?
Longest season, but no movement in Romans.
Romans is built on the OT.

Episode 1:

Adam to Abraham (highlight Noah and Sarah in season 4).
Fall + Promise = Seed (Jesus).
Sin + Flood + Promise = Ark (Jesus).
Grace (choosing Abraham) + Promise = Seed (Jesus).
What’s the purpose? God promised to save the world. OT is the story of God’s faithfulness to that promise.

Gospel Principle:

God’s promise applies to us in Jesus.
If you’re here, it’s proof of that promise. You could be a million other places, but you’re not. It’s because God wants to fulfill the promise.
